Setelah namanya tercoreng berkat penyerobotan di MTV VMA minggu lalu, Kanye West ternyata punya berita baru yang positif nih, yaitu 9 nominasi yang diraihnya utnk BET Hip-Hop Awards yang bakal diadakan di Atlanta's Boisfeuillet Jones Civic Center, minggu 10 Okt. Kanye di nominasikan untuk Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Producer of the Year, MVP of the Year, CD of the Year for 808s & Heartbreak dan Viewers Choice award untuk "Amazing" featuring Young Jeezy, dll. Sementara itu, Jay-Z dan Lil Wayne masing2 mendapatkan 7 nominasi dan T.I dengan 6 nominasi.
Tahun ini BET menambahkan 2 kategori baru yaitu Made-You-Look Award untuk Best Hip Hop Style dan Best Hip-Hop Blog Site. Host acara ini bakal dibawain oleh aktor dan komedian Mike Epps. Sedangkan, I AM HIP-HOP Icon Award tahun ini jatuh kepada ICE CUBE.
