Tahun ini, sebuah kontroversi datang dari mantan personel Westlife, Brian McFadden. Gimana enggak, bumbu sex yang mewarnai single terbarunya, 'Just The Way You Are (Drunk At A Bar)' menuai protes karena mengandung unsur lacur di dalamnya. Kamu bisa secara gampang menemukan dimana letak nyeleneh dalam liriknya, dan apa yang dimaksud dengan lirik tersebut. Sebagai pembelaan, Brian ngaku kalau lagu ini adalah hasil dari inspirasi yang didapatnya sejak bertemu Delta Goodrem. Bahwa dia terhipnotis dan secara terang-terangan menggambarkan kekagumannya di lagu ini. Dan kemudian, Brian pun memutarbalikkan semuanya. Dia menjadikan single ini sebagai bentuk amal bagi para korban perkosaan.
Jalur yang diambil oleh Brian kali ini enggak jauh dari rekamannya sebelumnya, "Wall Of Soundz". Dimana menu utamanya adalah electropop synthpop dan keberaniannya adalah mencampur itu semua dengan musik yang dihasilkan dari instrumen banjo. Hasilnya? Bisa jadi terkesan aneh pada awalnya, tapi kemudian kegilaan itu juga bisa secara total menghibur. Matching lah dengan nyelenehnya lirik dalam lagu ini juga.
Sialnya, enggak lama dari perilisan 'Just The Way You Are', hubungan pertunangan Brian dan Delta dikabarkan berhenti. Mereka secara damai dan kompak membuat keputusan ini. Agaknya kejadian di video 'Mistakes' itu memang gambaran dari kejadian nyata kehidupan pasangan ini. Sangat disayangkan memang, padahal kebersamaan mereka sudah selama 3 tahun. Well anyway, apakah dengan ini Brian akan kembali ke Inggris untuk perilisan album pertamanya setelah berapa lama ngetem di kampung halaman Delta selagi bermusik. Apapun yang terjadi di hari-hari ke depan, hari-hari ini kita isi saja dengan single terbaru Brian yang asyik ini.
