Setelah Cheryl sukses dengan Call My Name, jebolan girlgroup Girls Aloud ini kembali merilis single keduanya yang diambil dari solo albumnya yang ketiga yaitu Under the Sun. Single ini bertempo lebih pelan dibandingkan dengan single pendahulunya, yaitu Call My Name. Written by Cheryl herself dibantu dengan Alex Da Kid, lagu ini mengajak kita
untuk step back in time ke jaman retro dengan nuansa lagunya dan juga video klipnya yang memang sengaja menggunakan setting 60-70an.
I find it as a fun song, easy listening with hip hop beats dan dibuka dengan piano riffs yang dilanjutkan dengan dentuman bass drum yang menggoda telinga kita disusul dengan masuknya vocal seksi Cheryl membuka verse pertama. Ada dua bagian dalam lagu ini yang menarik perhatian saya, yang pertama adalah pada lyric : "I won't give you my heart, cause it don't break twice // Just to let you know, let you know" : pada bagian know diiringi dengan iringan 'O' panjang dengan suara mirip choir kemudian yang kedua adalah : "I'm sure you'll tell me anything under the sun // wee-ooh wee-ooh". Bagian "wee-ooh" ini terkesan "fun" di telinga saya, cocok sebagai lagu pembuka di album A Million Lights.
Dalam video klipnya yang bersettingkan retro, Cheryl memainkan peran sebagai a seductress, menggoda para pria yang ada di dalam video tersebut. Dibuka dengan adegan di sebuah cafe yang penuh dengan para pria dimana terdapat sebuah benda yang identik di tahun 60an yaitu jukebox, Cheryl mendekati jukebox tersebut dan choose the menu to play a song and then Under the Sun begin to play. Adegan berikut dia keluar dari cafe dan berjalan on the street yang dipenuhi dengan phone box, bus stop, mobil kuno dan juga para pria yang berpakaian ala John Travolta dalam Grease. Dance routine juga ditampilkan dalam video ini diiringi para male dancer with a suit and a hat.
I love the fact that the song matches the video yang berarti nuansa retro dalam Under the Sun is perfectly described in the video and this is also the reason why I love this single more better than Call My Name. What do you guys think ? Get started to listen and watch the video ..
