Anaconda penuh dengan sexual innuendo yang mungkin vulgar. Tapi, sebelum membahas single ini dari segi lirik, yuk kita bahas dirinya sebagai sebuah lagu. Dengan memadukan antara Hip-hop oldskool, Electro-pop dan sedikit pengaruh K-pop, Anaconda menjadi lagu kesekian Nicki Minaj yang sangat menggelitik untuk disimak. perpindahan beat yang dinamis menjadi kekuatannya selain, tentu saja, rap-nya Nicki.
Single yang diproduseri oleh Polow da Don dan Da Internz ini memiliki semua syarat untuk menjadi lagu pop yang memorable. Hook yang kuat. Melodi yang catchy dan juga aransemen yang meriah tapi gampang dicerna. Tapi kekuatan utama memang terletak di segi tematis yang nakal dan didukung oleh lirik yang mendukung untuk itu.
Dengan memakai lirik seperti "This dude named Michael used to ride motorcycles / Dick bigger than a tower, I ain't talking about Eiffel's / Real country ass nigga, let me play with his rifle" jelas jika Aanconda dalam lagu ini merupakan personifikasi dari, maaf, penis yang besar. Didukung dengan hook seperti "My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun."
Lagu rap dengan konteks seks dalam hubungan laki-laki dan perempuan bukan barang baru. Dan Minaj bukan pertama kali mengangkat hal yang serupa. Pembahasan tentang aspek feminis dalam lagu ini jelas bukan hal yang tepat untuk kita bahas di sini. Terlepas dari vulagritasnya, Anaconda adalah sebuah algu yang adiktif. Dan Minaj mengerti benar untuk memanfaatkan seksualitas sebagai materi dalam budaya pop agar digemari pasar.
Jika bersandar pada konteks tersebut, maka bisa dikatakan Minaj dan Anaconda-nya sukses dalam menjalankan misinya.
