Gone are the days of 'Calle Ocho', karena sekarang Pitbull kayak enggak PD untuk tampil sendirian memeriahkan lagunya. Dari album studio terbarunya, "Globalization", ia merilis 'Time of Out Lives' yang kembali mengikatnya dengan penyanyi/penulis lagu/produser Ne-Yo. Ini merupakan kesempatan kedua bagi keduanya untuk berdampingan di satu lagu, setelah sukses besar di 2011 'Give Me Everything'. Dibantu oleh Dr.Luke, Cirkut, dan tim, lagu ini memang kalah club/house anthemic dibanding 'Give Me Everything', tapi jelas ia punya feel yang lebih real.
Kemudian, dengan durasi sepanjang 3 menit 49 detik, lagu dibagi dalam beberapa fragmen. Verse rap oleh Pit tersaji dua kali, hook resmi oleh Ne-Yo sebanyak empat kali, dengan empat pre-hook yang mendahuluinya, serta sebuah bridge menjelang akhir lagu. Itu mengapa kolaborasi ini menggunakan nama Pitbull & Ne-Yo, bukannya featuring. Proporsi seimbang menjadikan kolaborasi ini tak berpihak.
Arah musik Pitbull belakangan menjorok pada bunyi instrumen yang organik. Meskipun pengaruh elektronika masih lebih berkuasa, tapi setidaknya ia sudah mencoba untuk lebih nyata dalam menghadirkan sound di musik. Ini berpengaruh pada fuse yang ia lakukan terhadap dance-hop yang menjadi akar musik. Sebongkah soul/urban/retro vibe menjadi bumbu terhadap lagu, menambah panjang daftar mix and match yang ia pernah ia lakukan.
Hubungan Pit dan Ne-Yo di kesempatan kali ini mutualisme. Karena Pit butuh membuat hit masif dari album studio terbarunya dan Ne-Yo juga perlu pemanasan untuk album studio yang berjarak tiga tahun dari album sebelumnya. Dengan kehadirannya di 40 besar Billboard Hot 100, tampaknya 'Time' sudah menuntaskan pekerjaannya bagi kedua belah pihak.
