Released by: Sony Music Entertainment IndonesiaPerlahan tapi pasti, single 'Locked Away' milik R.City (juga dikenal dengan Rock City) mulai mencuri perhatian. Tidak hanya menanjak di tangga lagu namun juga mulai sering dimainkan di berbagai tempat. Memang ada alasan kenapa lagu ini bisa menjadi semarak dan mendapat atensi lebih.
Duo R.City yang terdiri atas Timothy "A.I."Thomas dan Theron "Uptown AP" Thomas mengajak frontman Maroon 5, Adam Levine, dalam 'Locked Away' ini. Track urban ini mengedepankan pendekatan ala reggae yang catchy serta hook pada chorus untuk mengikat pendengarnya dan rasa-rasanya upaya mereka cukup sukses. Apalagi vokal Levine bernyanyi dengan lebih lembut dan tidak melengking tinggi seperti biasanya, sehingga terasa pas membawakan lagunya.
Bagi yang tidak mengenal R.City, mereka sudah berpengalaman memproduseri banyak lagu dan single yang populer. Contohlah 'Pour It Up' milik Rihanna, 'Bow Down/I Been On' oleh Beyonce, atau mungkin yang paling populer, 'We Don't Stop' dari Miley Cyrus. Yang bisa kita tilik dari track-track ini adalah nuansa reggae yang menguar dengan cukup kuat, terlepas apakah balutan utama lagunya adalah pop atau RnB.
Begitu juga yang bisa kita simak saat mendengarkan 'Locked Away'. Beat reggae memang mengundang untuk berdansa, tapi biasanya cenderung tersegmentasi. Namun dengan aransemen yang lebih dekat dengan pop, lagu menjadi lebih ramah ke pendengar awam. Apalagi liriknya yang manis pun bisa mengundang rasa nyaman saat mendengarkannya.
Untuk urusan musik video, klipnya juga berupaya untuk memancing rasa haru bagi yang menyaksikan dan pastinya disesuaikan dengan tema yang diusung oleh lagunya. Duo R.City sendiri bermain sebagai model yang memerankan karakter dengan jalan cerita masing-masing. Video juga menuntut mereka untuk berakting.
Ada dua cerita lain dalam videonya, yaitu seorang ayah/suami yang sekaligus seorang tentara yang mengucapkan perpisahan dengan keluarganya dan seorang remaja puteri yang ditahan oleh polisi. Pada intinya mereka berusaha untuk menunjukkan yang terbaik kepada orang yang mereka sayangi. Levine sendiri hanya kebagian "jatah" menyanyikan lagunya. Di akhir, ditunjukkan suasana pesta dimana orang-orang berdansa mengikuti irama lagu yang mungkin ingin menunjukkan jika everything is going to be okay in the end.
Single ini akan terdapat dalam album kedua R.City, "What Dreams Are Made Of" yang rencananya akan dirilis pada tanggal 9 Oktober.
