Single of The Day: Guy Sebastian & Jordin Sparks – Art of Love

Guy Sebastian berniat untuk menaklukkan Amerika dengan album ke-5 Like It Like That. Maka Guy kemudian mengajak serta Jordin Sparks sebagai nama yang dianggapnya mampu untuk mendongkrak kesuksesannya di Amerika melalui single ke-2 berjudul ‘Art of Love’. Alih-alih invasi, lagu ini justru lebih menggema di ‘kandangnya’ Guy sendiri. Lagu ini berhasil menjadi Top 10 di minggu pertamanya.

‘Art of Love’ sebenarnya bercerita mengenai kealpaan manusia, bahwa bisa sesekali lupa atau silap. Dan dalam sebuah relationship, komunikasi adalah kunci untuk mengatasi permasalahan kealpaan tadi. “If I forget to get the door/Remind you that you’re beautiful” Dan memohon maaf atas kesalahan tersebut, karena kita masih belajar seni dalam cinta!

Lagu ini lebih terasa pop ketimbang R&B-nya. Padahal 2 artis ini lebih banyak menyanyikan lagu-lagu R&B. Lagu ini terdengar calm, tidak ngotot, dan yang terpenting adalah vokal Jordin tidak melengking seperti di ‘Battlefield’. Santai dan tidak ribut, dentuman drum yang terus-terusan tidak berlebihan. Dan berkaitan dengan seluruh porsi yang pas dalam lagu ini, maka saya berikan peringkat 8 dari 10 untuk ‘Art Of Love’.
