Single of The Day: Roxette – She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)

Tiga unsur khas Roxette muncul kembali dalam single terbaru mereka; rock, pop, dan elektronika. ‘She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)’ memang apik, karena lagu ini membawa kita kembali pada sound klasik rock yang sudah akrab dengan duo ini ditambah twist modern pada penggunaan instrumen keyboard dalam menampilkan unsur elektronikanya. Grup musik asal Swedia ini terdengar begitu fresh dalam usaha comeback mereka.

Lagu Per Gessle ini didominasi oleh vokalnya, dan Marie Fredriksson berkesempatan untuk menampilkan vokalnya secara penuh di bagian bridge. Ini menuai komentar kalau single yang dirilis pada 7 Januari lalu ini seperti single-nya Per, bukannya Roxette. Dan aransemen terhadap lagunya dianggp terlalu Xenomania, sehingga terkesan seperti sesuatu yang diambil dari album Girls Aloud. It’s just funny, berhubung Roxette memulai rock klasik seperti ini jauh sebelum Girls Aloud tercipta.

But anyway, it’s really great to have them back! Popularitas mereka di tahun 80-an hingga 90-an sedikit tidak membebani gerak mereka untuk kembali berkarya. Album terbaru mereka “Charm School” akan dirilis pada 11 Pebruari mendatang, berisikan 12 track yang keseluruhannya ditulis oleh Per. Proses produksinya dilakukan langsung oleh Roxette bersama Clarence Öfwerman dan Christoffer Lundquist. Setelah Ace Of Base, sekarang giliran Roxette kembali terdengar di radio. We’ve got nothing on, but the radio!
