The X Factor USA Top 7 – Michael Jackson’s Week

Michael Jackson Night di The X Factor USA. Tujuh kontestan yang tersisa harus menyanyikan lagu-lagu dari legenda yang telah menjual 750 juta kopi album di seluruh dunia. Penyelenggara mengundang Jackson Bersaudara ke acara dengan menyisihkan sedikit waktu bagi mereka untuk hadir di panggung dan wawancara. Sementara ibu dan 3 anak MJ berada di kursi penonton.

1. Josh Krajcik ‘Dirty Diana’
Nicole punya kendali untuk mengarahkan act-nya, termasuk membimbing Josh keluar dari zona amannya. Itu yang disadari para mentor lain sehingga merasa kalau penampilan Josh kali ini kurang prima. Tapi ini justru untuk pertama kalinya Nicole menunjukkan andilnya sebagai mentor secara total. Tapi adakah lagu MJ yang masuk dalam definisi zona aman bagi Josh?
LA Reid: That was the first time I’ve seen you step out of your
comfort zone. But you landed on your feet.
Nicole Scherzinger: We like to take risks on the show.
Paula Abdul: You learned to be comfortable in the uncomfortable.
Simon Cowell: As a spectacle it was great, however you were
over-produced. You got lost in all the choreography. This is what
Nicole wants to be.

2. Astro ‘Black or White’
Tugas Astro setiap pekannya jauh lebih disibukkan dengan menulis lirik
ketimbang melaksanakan konsep penampilannya. Resiko yang harus diambilnya sebagai rapper di ajang ini. Astro membelah panel juri menjadi, Nicole vs Paula/Simon/LA. Seandainya Astro masuk ke zona
bahaya di malam result, maka Nicole sendiri yang akan punya senyum
kemenangan.
LA Reid: I’d like to think that the Jackson family is as proud as I am.
Nicole Scherzinger: I love the lyrics that you wrote.
Paula Abdul: You amaze me everytime. You are our past and present. I
think you can win.
Simon Cowell: I disagree with Nicole – you made the song younger. I
love the new hook you put in the end.

3. Drew Ryniewicz ‘Billie Jean’
Simon ingin menjadikan Drew seorang penampil yang sederhana, hanya
menjadi dirinya sendiri tanpa pengalih. Maka jadilah lagu Michael Jackson versi Drew yang otentik. Kalau Drew punya penggemar yang setia, mereka pasti tidak keberatan dengan konsep yang Simon tawarkan. Tapi kalau mereka tipikal pembosan, Drew berada dalam bahaya, meskipun penampilannya konsisten. Dinamika vokal Drew sungguh mantap!
LA Reid: You took Billie Jean — you made it your own. It pains me —
but I liked it.
Nicole Scherzinger: I like you. The whole chair thing… never to go up
from the chair… I don’t understand that.
Paula Abdul: This was your best vocal performance. Simon you should
have a little more fun.
Simon Cowell: Paula, because of too much dancing, that’s why your acts are gone now.

4. Rachel Crow ‘Can You Feel It’
Simon mengenal betul Rachel Crow dan ambisi yang dimilikinya. Nicole
pernah mengomentari mengenai Rachel yang mengingatkannya pada Michael Jackson. Sayangnya, penampilan Rachel tidak disukai LA, Nicole, maupun Paula. Mereka tidak menemukan aktor klik antara Rachel dengan penampilannya minggu ini. Sure this made her feel #jleb
LA Reid: I didn’t believe you were having a great time.
Nicole Scherzinger: I thought you really did a good job.
Paula Abdul: I adore you, but I don’t the song didn’t give you justice.
Simon Cowell: You always put on a great show.

5. Marcus Canty ‘PYT Pretty Young Thing’
Kejadian pekan lalu saat Marcus masuk ke zona bahaya seharusnya
membuatnya belajar untuk menjadi lebih legowo dan tidak over-PD. Tapi
herannya PYT menjadi penampilan penuh semangat yang tetap melupakan kontrol vokal. Entertainer of the show, OK. Vocalist of the show, not really.
LA Reid: It was an inventive arrangement of the song. I hope the flip
flips you some votes.
Nicole Scherzinger: I love you PYT.
Paula Abdul: You are the entertainer.
Simon Cowell: The backflip was the best part.

6. Chris Rene ‘I’ll Be There’
Salah satu penampilan yang paling mudah untuk disukai. I’ll Be There
dalam nyanyi dan rap oleh Chris membuat vibe yang terbangun layaknya
Puff Daddy. Salah satu penampilan terbaik pekan ini.
LA Reid: You know you are the truth. Good job.
Nicole Scherzinger: I felt your spirit. You sounded the best you ever sang.
Paula Abdul: You look the best you ever looked. You manifest in
abundance in the heart department.
Simon Cowell: The rapped kicked in, much much better. You need a lot
of support from your hometown.

7. Melanie Amaro ‘Earth Song’
Apakah Melanie sudah dipersiapkan sebagai juara The X Factor USA?
Kalau demikian adanya, sebaiknya act yang lain diberitahu untuk tidak
usah berusaha terlalu keras. Melanie memegang gelar best vocal
performance.
LA Reid: I forgot that we were in a competition and I thought we were
in a Melanie concert.
Nicole Scherzinger: One of the best performances of the season.
Paula Abdul: You are gorgeous up there.
Simon Cowell: You were amazing.
