Banyak yang menarik dari seorang Justin Bieber. Muda, tampan, berbakat, dan R&B. Sepertinya konsep Disney dengan pop rock harus sedikit dipalingkan untuk sejenak menyimak Justin Drew Bieber dan lagu 'One Time' nya yang sudah dirilis sejak 7 Juli 2009.
Apa aku bilang. Nama Justin sepertinya sangat identik untuk sebuah konsep pop yang ringan dan fun! Ini satu lagi musisi bernama Justin, Justin Bieber tepatnya. Cowok kelahiran 14 Maret 1994 ini -buka kurung BRONDONG tutup kurung- sudah memulai niatannya untuk menjadi penyanyi di usia 12 tahun. Saat itu Justin ikutan kontes nyanyi se-Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Meskipun jadi juara 2, tapi ternyata tidak begitu mengangkat namanya. Hingga akhirnya Justin memutuskan untuk memulai karir musiknya melalui YouTube. Pertimbangan sang ibu saat itu adalah supaya keluarga dan saudara yang tidak hadir di saat Justin manggung masih tetap bisa menikmati penampilannya, menyanyikan lagu2 Usher, Stevie Wonder, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, dan Michael Jackson. (No Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, or Mariah Carey). Justru disinilah nasib baik menghampiri. Justin ditemukan oleh manajer artis Scooter Braun yang akhirnya mempertemukannya dengan Usher. Dan tebak siapa saingan Usher untuk mendapatkan Justin? Ja-wa-ban-nya a-da-lah... Justin Timberlake! (seemed like he didn't satisfy by discovering Esmee Denters alone, huh?!)
Nah, setelah menjadi mentornya, Usher kemudian membuka jalan yang lebih menjanjikan untuk Justin. Dia mengikuti audisi dengan Antonio L.A. Reid di Island Records, dan akhirnya teken kontrak dengan Island di Oktober 2008. Sebuah kesempatan yang enggak sia2. Kemudian di Juli 2009 publik bisa menikmati karya perdana dari ABG yang satu ini. Itulah saatnya 'One Time' dirilis dan bisa mencapai posisi 12 di Canadian Hot 100 di debutnya! Untuk pasar US, lagu ini bisa masuk di nomor 78 Billboard Hot 100 Singles. Dan untuk kita, lagu ini sudah pernah merajai tangga lagu radio di Indonesia! Orang di balik single ini bukan main2 lho ngetopnya. dialah T Nash yang menciptakan lagunya bersama Roderick Hollingsworth dan W Nugent. Justin Bieber sendiri ikutan dalam penulisan lagu berdurasi 3 menit 36 detik ini. Yang memproduserinya adalah Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. Bukan nama yang asing untuk kalangan R&B. Suara Justin yang masih sangat belia, sedikit mengingatkan kita pada Aaron Carter. Jadi bisa sedikit nostalgia masa SD.
Sekarang, kesibukan Justin adalah untuk proyek debut album-nya 'My World' yang rencana rilis 15 September mendatang. Tapi selagi menunggu albumnya dirilis utuh, kita juga bisa menikmati music video 'One Time' yang menampilkan Usher di dalamnya. Dan menurut data YouTube, video pertamanya ini sudah ditonton sebanyak hampir 3,8 juta kali sampai awal Agustus! Justin memberi pernyataan tentang video resminya tersebut. "It was really cool going from my webcam to professional videos." Banyak yang penasaran dengan anak yang satu ini. Begitu juga dengan diriku. Enggak sabar aja rasanya.
