Untuk anda yang berkenalan dengan Switchfoot di era ”Meant To Life”, rasanya kita akan mendengarkan satu sound yang sama. Seperti menemukan teman lama yang telah hilang. Sound yang tebal, gitar yang cepat, serta hentakan drum yang tidak henti-hentinya menyerang telinga serta ucapan Jonathan Foreman, I ain’t no drug! Great!
Track ini pertama kali diperkenalkan di Big Ticket Festival di Michigan pada 18 Juni 2009. Pada bulan Agustus Jon Foreman dan Tim Foreman mengajak produse Rob Cavallo untuk memberikan sedikit sentuhan terakhir untuk lagu ini. Ditambah lagi ramuan tangan Chris Lord-Alge menyempurnakan bentuk protes Switchfoot.
Protes terhadap apa? Ternyata lagu ini merupakan bentuk protes dan kekhawatiran dari Switchfoot mengenai industri farmasi yang menguntungkan hanya sebagian orang. Industri farmasi ini dicap sebagai "attain never-ending, everlasting, abundant life" bagi mereka.
Track ini pertama kali diperdengarkan di stasiun radio rock 99X di Atlanta. Debutnya di chart Billboard pun bisa dikatakan lumayan. Dengan langsung menduduki posisi 24 di Billboard Alternative Songs serta nomor 42 di Billboard Rock Songs.
Lupakan sejenak image cowok manis Jon Foreman yang bernyanyi bersama Mandy Moore di track “Someday We’ll Know”, image optimis di track “Stars” ataupun image romantis nan sendu di track “On Fire”. Kini saatnya mengencangkan ikat pinggang anda dan ikut melaju bersama tempo lagu ini.
Intro yang seketika berhenti ketika vokal Jon Foreman masuk, langsung membuat kita teringat akan kekuatan vokalnya. Hal ini terus berulang setiap selesai reffrain. Titik henti yang ingin mempertegas apa sebenarnya yang di teriakkan oleh band ini. Suara gitar yang semakin menghasut kita berada 20 detik sebelum reffrain terakhir. Setelah itu emosi dan nada Jon semakin meninggi dan diakhiri teriakan di akhir lagu. Pyuh!
Dalam track ini kita akan mengenal kembali sisi lain dari Switchfoot. Melanjutkan kesuksesan album Oh! Gravity, silahkan puas berteriak dan menikmati warna dasar Switcfoot dengan track ini.
