Effort yang dilakukan Kristinia DeBarge melalui Exposed yang dirilis di paruh kedua tahun 2009 adalah sesuatu yang bisa dianggap biasa-biasa saja. Mengapa demikian? Karena awal kemunculan Kristinia lewat single Goodbye cukup menyita perhatian publik tapi setelah full albumnya dirilis respon publik tidak begitu baik. Rencana selanjutnya pun dilancarkan saat Sabotage dikeluarkan sebagai single ke-2, tapi apa yang terjadi? Masih saja melempem. Nah, sebagai langkah akhir Kristinia bersama Exposed adalah merilis Future Love dalam bentuk remix bersama rapper Pitbull.
Some remixes were meant to bea great and some were so-so. Bagaimana dengan Future Love? Lagu yang awalnya sangat melodius, penuh dengan keceriaan remaja, dengan shining moment vocal berubah menjadi sesuatu yang unpredictable. Pertama, seluruh aransemen untuk lagu ini diubah. Ini ulah siapa? Siapa lagi kalau bukan produser Jim Jonsin dan Mr.305. Dominasi Pitbull dalam lagu ini membuat Future Love lebih pantas disebut sebagai karya Pitbull featuring Kristina DeBarge daripada sebaliknya. Kedua, vokal Kristinia yang dinamis saat rekaman ulang untuk versi remixnya berubah menjadi robotic. Dan ada beberapa bagian lirik yang diubah sehingga jika kita sudah hafal dengan versi originalnya merasakan bahwa versi remixnya begitu asing di telinga.
Future Love Remix memiliki 3 bagian verse, verse awal yang sama dengan original, verse kedua yang merupakan rap dari Pitbull, dan verse ketiga yang merupakan verse kedua dari lagu originalnya. Bagian bridge 'i know, the minute you pull up next to me, we standing there like destiny, when it feels like you're fighting just to breathe, that's when you know, the minute I pull up next to you, suddenly you don't know what to do, everything inside you says that I'm the one' ditiadakan. I call it 2.5 points from 5. I'm not jumping up and down while listening to it, tapi aku masih bersedia untuk mendengarkannya. Dan ohya, album terbaru Kristinia DeBarge akan dikeluarkan tahun ini!
