Eminem bukan rapper biasa. Ia adalah salah satu rapper terlaris dengan catatan penjualan melampaui 78.000.000 di seluruh dunia. Ia menutup dekade 2000-2009 dengan titel Artist of the Decade yang diberikan oleh Nielsen SoundScan atas prestasinya menjadi artis terlaris sepanjang dekade tersebut. Di tahun 2009 ia merilis dua album berurutan yaitu “Relapse” dan “Relapse : Refill”. Seharusnya album “Recovery” ini dirilis akhir tahun lalu, tapi melihat materi yang belum matang maka dirilis dahulu “Relapse : Refill” dengan beberapa tambahan lagu yang tidak masuk didalam album “Relapse”. Album barunya "Recovery" ini bakal dirilis tgl 22 Juni.
Single "Not Afraid" ini adalah single pertama yang diambil dari album terbaru dimana pembukaan lagu ini langsung dengan hook yang menggigit, Eminem mengawali dengan intro yang bercerita. Gaya rapnya yang berapi-api menyahut kemudian dengan iringan lagu yang cukup sederhana namun memiliki lirik penuh makna yang menggambarkan keberaniannya untuk bangkit dan terus menjadi lebih baik. Sambutan atas single ini cukup mengagumkan dengan mendarat di posisi #1 itunes Single Chart hanya beberapa jam sejak dirilis penjualannya. Hingga saat ini single ‘Not Afraid’ juga berhasil menempati posisi #1 iTunes single chart di Kanada, Amerika Serikat, Swiss, Luxemburg, Swedia dan Italia. Dan juga kesuksesannya yang berhasil jadi jawara di Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart dengan terjual sebanyak 379ribu digital sales.
