"I have never written a song for a movie, I've had songs in movies which is always weird, you know? When you see faces you've grown up with kind of walking down the street to one of your songs. Feels like they've stolen it! But this one, [the producers of Kick-Ass] called me in, they made me watch the movie and then gave me three days to write the song. So, I was slightly terrified...It's written completely for the film. I loved the film. It panders to all my weird obsessions and perversions. It's demented! It's wrong in every way, that's why it's so right" itulah pernyataan Mika tentang lagu 'Kick Ass'. Ini memang dia karang bersama Jodi Marr untuk dijadikan soundtrack film layar lebar dengan judul yang sama. Diproduseri oleh RedOne, lagu ini sebenarnya diperkenalkan atas nama Mika vs RedOne.
Untuk kali pertama menulis lagu soundtrack, ini sangat mengesankan. Mika memberikan 100% dirinya ke dalam lagu ini. Instrumen piano, synth, gitar elektrik, drum beat, hingga cara bernyanyinya yang super fabulous. Yahud, Mika selalu tau persis apa yang ingin dia perbuat disini. Bagian yang paling aku suka di lagu ini adalah chorusnya yang mengajak kita untuk meneriakkan liriknya dengan lantang. Tidak hanya memberikan kita musik untuk didengar, tapi juga sebuah lagu untuk didendangkan bersama.
Secara lirik, lagu ini seperti kelanjutan lagu Mika sebelumnya, 'We Are Golden'. Disini, Mika menyebutkan kita lebih dari sekedar 'Golden'. Pokoknya semua positif, dech. Lebih ke self-esteem ketimbang narsis. Kredit juga buat RedOne, karena disini beliau mampu bertoleransi pada karyanya. Tidak hanya dance elektro, tapi juga penggilannya musik alternatif di dalamnya.
