Bersama David Hodges dan Hillary Lindsey, Carrie Underwood menciptakan lagu 'There's A Place For Us' untuk soundtrack film "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader". Sesuai dengan yang pernah diberitakan, bahwa lagu ini akan membantu Carrie Underwood untuk memperoleh tempat di unggulan Golden Globe, benar saja! Pada tanggal 14 Desember yang lalu, Katie Holmes dan Blair Underwood mengumumkan para nominator 68th Golden Globe Awards, termasuk lagu ini di kategori Best Original Song. Dimana dia akan bersaing dengan 2 lagu dari film Burlesque, dan masing-masing 1 lagu dari film Country Strong dan Tangled. Acara penghargaannya sendiri akan dilaksanakan pada 16 Januari mendatang.
Lagu ini sebenarnya memiliki sound pop, tapi kenyataan penulis lagu country Hillary Lindsey dan produser musik country Mak Bright membidangi proses produksi, sekaligus vokalis country yang menyanyikannya, jadi ada blending dengan ranah musik tersebut. Untuk mempermegah musik, orchestra dipakai. Hasilnya, sebuah lagu yang sempurna dalam durasi 3 menit 53 detik. Agak mengingatkan pada rekaman pertama Carrie setelah American Idol, 'Inside Your Heaven'.
'There's A Place For Us' diputar di akhir film, saat credit untuk film Narnia tersebut diputar. Tapi untuk beberapa negara, lagu ini direkam secara eksklusif oleh penyanyi-penyanyi lain. Seperti contohnya Inggris, lagu ini dinyanyikan oleh pemenang X Factor tahun lalu, Joe McElderry. Dan lagu ini tersedia sebagai b-side untuk single keduanya, 'Someone Wake Me Up' yang juga termasuk dalam album soundtrack Narnia versi UK. Boyband E.M.D asal Swedia pun menyanyikan lagu ini sekaligus memasukkannya sebagai bonus track untuk album ketiga mereka "Rewind". Versi lainnya adalah Sergey Lazarev (Rusia/Ukraina), Sonohra (Italia), Victoria S (Jerman), dan Sander De Buisonje (Belanda).
Cerita yang terkandung dalam lagu ini adalah sesuatu yang meyakinkan kita untuk percaya diri. Jangan pernah minder, karena exactly who we are is just enough. Enggak perlu mencoba terlalu keras untuk fit in, karena there's a place for us. I praise Carrie for her vocal. Dan juga para pembuat lagu ini atas kebolehan mereka mengkreasikan musik yang indah dan menawan. Brutally brilliant!
