I was amazed by the presence of Shayne Ward dalam single terbarunya 'Gotta Be Somebody' yang mulai diperdengarkan ke khalayak sejak September lalu. Dari sini, sudah ketahuan kalau musik yang diperdengarkan oleh Shayne sebagai karya termutakhirnya adalah dalam payung genre electropop dan dancepop, yang dengan sempurna menyamarkan sebuah lagu rock-nyaris enggak ketahuan kalau ini adalah sebuah lagu cover. Dan 'Gotta Be Somebody' diservis sebagai single pertama untuk album terbaru Shayne yang berjudul "Obsession".
Ini aslinya milik band asal Kanada, Nickelback yang mereka populerkan di tahun 2008 kemarin. Diproduseri sama Ray Hedges, Nigel Butler, Cutfather dan David Kopatz, lagu ini jadi milik Shayne Ward. Bagi penikmat musik rock, akan sangat tidak nyaman mendengarkan saduran yang mereka perlakukan untuk 'Gotta Be Somebody', tapi untuk yang lain, ini adalah sebuah masterpiece, keberhasilan dalam pencapaian eksperimen bermusik. Selain itu, lagu berdurasi 3 menit 42 detik ini memiliki kemampuan meracuni telinga sehingga kita tidak kuasa untuk terus mendengarkannya.
Presentasi lagunya ke dalam video yang sedikit banyak narsis. Shayne yang sudah aslinya sangat menawan melakukan adegan pamer bodi dalam video arahan sutradara Billy Woodruff. Deskripsi cerita bergerak dalam konsep penguntitan seorang cewek terhadap Shayne. I'm not a fan of the video, tapi kalau untuk lagunya, aku nomor satu di barisan. Musik yang asyik dengan vokal yang apik!
