Formula rapper cowok dengan vokalis cewek agaknya memang booming sepanjang tahun 2010 kemarin. Sebut saja B.o.B. yang mengajak serta Hayley Williams, vokalis band Paramore untuk berkolaborasi di lagu 'Airplanes' yang menjadi juara di UK, juga yang tak kalah sukses Eminem yang memboyong Rihanna di single nomor 1 CreativeDisc tahun 2010 'Love The Way You Lie'. Mungkin karena melihat kesuksesan dua single tersebut, akhirnya T.I membuat sebuah kolaborasi duet yang diberi judul 'Caste Walls' bersama penyanyi yang baru saja bermain dalam film "Burlesque", yaitu Christina Aguilera.
Lagu ini diawali dengan vokal Christina Aguilera yang mellow dan mengalun-ngalun, membuat kita langsung terfokus dalam melodinya. Langsung disusul rap dari T.I yang langsung membangun suasana lebih menghentak. Kalau dinilai dari liriknya, bisa dibilang ini lagu punya lirik bermakna yang dalam. Bagaimana terkadang sesuatu yang tampak dari luar bukanlah gambaran sesungguhnya dari apa yang ada di dalam. Boleh dilihat-lihat sebentar lirik di bagian Christina ini. "everyone thinks that i have it all//but it’s so empty living behind these castle walls"
Selain itu vokal Christina disini juga memberikan nuansa yang lebih dark untuk single, ini membuat kita yang mendengarkan jadi ikut merasakan arti yang terkandung di dalamnya. Mungkin pertama kali kita dengar kita langsung menghubungknnya dengan 'Love The Way You Lie', itu mungkin dikarenakan dikarenakan Alex Da Kid yang memproduseri keduanya, jadi agak punya kemiripan antara satu dan yang lain. Meskipun demikian, rap T.I dan suara khas dari Christina Aguilera sudah tidak bisa dipandang sebelah mata dalam membawakan 'Castle Walls' ini karena harmoni dan maknanya sanggup tersampaikan dengan baik.
Membahas mengenai durasi, lagu ini memang punya durasi yang cukup lama. Lima setengah menit untuk versi albumnya. Itu semua terbagi dalam 4 kali chorus oleh Christina, 3 kali verse oleh T.I., dan sekali bridge oleh Christina. Tapi kalau mau dengar versi yang lebih singkat, ada radio editnya (yang semoga tersedia di stasiun radio di kota kamu) yang cuma 4 menit 20 detik. Dimana pemotongan terjadi di bagian musiknya. So, tinggal menunggu saja apakah kolaborasi yang berasal dari beda genre musik ini akan suskes atau tidak? Tapi secara keseluruhan, 'Castle Walls' adalah juara! Enjoy dari awal hingga akhir!
