Semenjak muncul memenangkan X Factor seri ke-6 di akhir tahun 2009 lalu, Joe McElderry belum pernah sekalipun menghadirkan lagu orisinil darinya. Dia menyanyikan lagu Miley Cyrus 'The Climb' sebagai lagu kemenangan, disusul lagu Donkeyboy 'Ambitions' sebagai single andalan dari album perdananya, "Wide Awake". Kini, dia punya satu single orisinil, yang tidak hanya sebagai andalan dari album, tapi juga dipakai untuk soundtrack film ketiga Narnia, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", yaitu "Someone Wake Me Up" Orang yang berada di belakang single ini adalah Ray Hedges dan Nigel Butler, yang enggak asing dengan bintang-bintang pop seperti Cher, Boyzone, hingga Gareth Gates.
Saya adalah salah satu penikmat vokal Joe yang memiliki tingkat kelembutan tinggi dengan pesona charming di setiap kali ia berlantun. Dan itu berpadu indah dalam menyanyikan lirik dengan rima yang tak kalah indah:

berisi tentang being mermerized ataupun astonished, yang menurutku dibawakan dengan apik dan berciri oleh Joe. Pantas saja berbagai review mengenai 'Someone Wake Me Up' menyetujui kalau lagu berdurasi tiga setengah menitan ini stunning. Bahkan beberapa di antaranya mengambil persandingan kepada musik Wham! dan Katy Perry.
Dalam tampilan video klip, Joe bernyanyi di sebuah boat yang sedang dipenuhi air, berikut cuplikan dari film Narnia yang terlihat di layar. Untuk album soundtrack film karya studio 20th Century Fox tersebut, Joe juga menyanyikan lagu yang termasuk dalam nominasi Golden Globe 'There's A Place For Us' sebagai b-side untuk single ini. Bagi yang belum pernah dengar dan pengen sekali untuk bisa dengar Joe McElderry, bisa ikutan kuis untuk mendapatkan CD "Wide Awake"-nya Joe.
