Dibuka oleh dentingan piano dan dentuman drum yang harmonis – dengan intro yang hampir mirip dengan lagu Cry Me Out milik Pixie Lott – lagu ini menyajikan nada yang menentramkan hati tanpa menghilangkan jiwa rock dari vokal DeWyze sendiri. Dihiasi nuansa pop dan ballad serta berdurasi 04:53, lagu ini akan mengikat kita dengan melodi yang easy listening dan lirik yang catchy juga pesan yang kuat. Meski begitu, menurut saya, lagu ini adalah tipikal lagu yang akan cepat membuat bosan – jadi, dengarkanlah seperlunya.
Seperti pada liriknya, “If you could only just stop stop stop running,” – Beautiful Like You sendiri menceritakan tentang bagaimana DeWyze menasehati para pendengarnya untuk berhenti berlari dan mulai menghadapi kenyataan, sepedih apapun itu. Seperti lagu encouragement pada umumnya, lagu ini juga berkata bahwa sebenarnya kita berarti ‘lebih’ dari apa yang kita bayangkan sebelumnya. Dengan lagu ini, tidak dapat dipungkiri DeWyze mampu menyihir para penikmat musik baik yang merupakan fansnya ataupun tidak untuk terus mengikuti lagu ini sampai akhir, menikmati liriknya dan merenungkan maknanya. Lagu ini juga telah membuat banyak perubahan pada para pendengarnya untuk terus menjalani hidup dan tidak menyerah dalam keadaan sulit sekalipun, seperti dapat dilihat disini, dimana orang-orang berbagi kisah tentang bagaimana lagu ini telah ‘menyentuh’ mereka.
