Kalau kamu penggemar berat New Kids On The Block dan Backstreet Boys, pasti keputusan 2 boyband keren ini untuk tur konser bersama adalah sebuah mukjizat. Dalam rangka merayakan kebersamaan tersebut, keduanya yang merger jadi nama NKOTBSB merilis sebuah single original berjudul 'Don't Turn Out The Lights' yang telah dirilis pada awal bulan April ini. Serunya enggak cuma karena ada 9 pria tampan yang menyanyikannya dengan harmonis, tapi nyanyian mereka yang indah tersebut dilatari dengan musik synthpop masa kini, membuat boyband yang puncak kejayaannya di 80-an dan 90-an ini tetap update untuk urusan musik.
Untuk generasi muda, mungkin kurang kenal dengan NKOTB ataupun BSB secara terpisah. Sebenarnya mereka juga enggak begitu vakumnya sehingga kita enggak punya kesempatan untuk mengenal nama masing-masing. New Kids On The Block mengeluarkan album "The Block" di tahun 2008 dan Backstreet Boys mengeluarkan album "This Is Us" di tahun 2009 dimana keduanya meng-upgrade musik pop masing-masing ke dalam ranah today's pop dengan bantuan produser musik yang juga sedang ngetop-ngetopnya saat ini, kayak RedOne maupun Jim Jonsin. Demikian juga dengan single merger ini, ada nama Claude Kelly yang menggawangi pengadaan single-nya. Dan berhasil memadukan 9 vokalis dari 2 grup vokal ke dalam satu lagu penuh antusiasme ini.
Synthpop dan electropop saat ini memang menjual. Ini bisa jadi perasaan para produser untuk kembali meningkatkan gairah penjualan bagi 2 boyband raksasa ini. Sejak diputar di awal bulan April, lagu ini cukup mendapat sambutan yang baik. Di radio tanah air pun, pemutaran single berdurasi tiga setengah menit ini lumayan kencang. Mampu berkompetisi dengan penyanyi-penyanyi lain. Ini bisa jadi semakin marak saat tur konsernya mulai di bulan Mei nanti. Meskipun Indonesia enggak akan disinggahi, tapi paling enggak Indonesia kebagian jatah perilisan album yang sensasional ini. Di dalamnya ada hits besar masing-masing boyband, sehingga enggak ada alasan lagi untuk enggak kenal New Kids On The Block maupun Backstreet Boys. Viva la pop musica!
