Jason Mraz tampaknya belum ada menunjukkan indikasi akan merilis album terbarunya, meski kabarnya tengah mengerjakan album keempatnya tersebut. Untuk sementara kita harus puas dengan single-single yang dilepasnya, termasuk yang trebaru ini, The World As I See It yang dirilis pada tanggal 20 Setember yang lalu sebagai bagian kampanye In Search of Incredible, sebuah program peluncuran notebook ASUS New N Series.
Mendengarkan The World As I See It akan membuat kita sedikit pangling dengan Mraz, karena secara tipologi menampilkan musik yang agak berbeda dari lagu-lagu yang biasa kita dengarkan dari Mraz. Dinamisasi ala musik tropikal terdengar cukup besar saat perkusi hadir menemani lagunya. Namun, secara umum ini adalah sebuah pop progresif yang kental dengan irama yang menggugah.
Single The World As I See It sendiri adalah sebuah nomor pop-mid-tempo dengan instrumen drum, perkusi dan gitar bermain secara dominan. Terdengar begitu santai, diiringi dengan vokal Mraz yang mengalun dengan khas. Secara struktur, lagu ini cukup sederhana, tanpa notasi-notasi yang njelimet atau atraktif dan dinamis, seperti yang biasanya kita kenal dari Mraz.
Bukan berarti lagu ini tidak memiliki setiap kegemilangan Mraz. Mulai dari vokal stabil dengan dinamika yang terjaga, permainan gitar yang cantik, sampai ritme lagu yang menarik. Mraz bernyanyi dengan cukup santai, tidak ada lonjakan-lonjakan emosi. Namun begitu, dalam The World As I See It, Mraz tetap mampu mengkomunikasikan esensi lagu, tanpa harus terkesan provokatif. Dan dengan tampil sederhana, sama sekali tidak mengurangi kekuatan lagunya.
Dan bersiaplah. Karena Jason Mraz akan datang kembali ke Indonesia! Nuansa akustik yang kental dalam The World As I See It tampaknya juga akan hadir mewarnai konser yang bertajuk Special Acoustiv Evening With Toca Rivera tersebut. Konser ini diadakan tepat pada hari ini, Rabu (09/11) di Taman Bhagawan Nusa Dua, Bali. Jadi, siapa pun yang berkesempatan menyimak konser ini, selamat bersenang-senang dalam sensasi musik bersama Jason Mraz. We envy you!
