Professor Green? Mungkin beberapa dari kalian akan merasa kurang familiar dengan rapper bernama asli Stephen Manderson ini. Nah, bagaimana dengan singlenya yang dirilis pada 2010 silam yang merupakan hasil dari berduet dengan Lily Allen yang berjudul “Just Be Good To Green”? Pasti ingatan kalian tentang Professor Green akan kembali lagi! Yup, dia memang terkenal telah bekerja beberapa kali dengan Allen. Kali ini, ia kembali lagi dengan single terbarunya, “Read All About It”, yang berkolaborasi dengan Emeli Sande.
Single yang dirilis pada 21 September 2011 ini sendiri memiliki kisah kelam yang begitu personal bagi Green. Diambil dari album keduanya, At Your Inconvenience, lagu ini bercerita tentang perasaannya terhadap kematian ayah kandungnya yang melakukan bunuh diri. Hubungan Green yang tidak begitu dekat dengan ayahnya diceritakan dengan gamblang di dalam liriknya, dan meskipun begitu, ia tetap mencintai ayahnya sebagaimana adanya. Vokal Emeli Sande, seorang penyanyi asal Skotlandia, juga dirasa sangat pas mengisi bagian chorus dari lagu ini. Nadanya sendiri sangat easy listening dan liriknya pun catchy, yang membuat lagu ini tentu saja sangat cocok untuk dijadikan lead single dari sebuah album.
Disisi lain, banyak kritikus yang menyebut Green sebagai versi Inggris dari rapper terkenal asal Amerika, Eminem, dan membandingkan lagu ini dengan Cleanin' Out My Closet miliknya. Bagaimanapun juga, jika mengangkat masalah keluarga, tentu saja setiap orang akan memiliki cerita masing-masing yang berbeda. Videonya sendiri berkisah tentang seorang bocah yang terlihat mempunyai hubungan yang tidak begitu baik dengan orangtuanya. Sande dan Green terlihat bernyanyi di sebuah gudang, dan diakhir video, terlihat Green berjalan menghampiri anak kecil tersebut. Walaupun begitu, tidak jelas jika video ini dibuat berdasarkan kisah masa kecilnya.
Overall, lewat kesuksesan single ini, Green jelas telah berhasil membuat banyak penikmat musik di seluruh dunia untuk melirik dan merasa penasaran dengan karya-karyanya selanjutnya.
