Ternyata kehamilan anak pertama tidak menjadi alasan buat Beyonce untuk berhenti menyanyi sejenak, menari dan mempromosikan albumnya. Beyonce justru semakin giat dalam perilisan video klip. Setelah Countdown, Beyonce segera menggarap video terbaru, Love on Top yang mengambil konsep performing video.
Bermula dari penampilannya di MTV Video Music Awards 2011 lalu. Sembari menghangatkan pemberitaan mengenai kehamilan pertamanya, Beyonce juga memberi kejutan dengan menjadikan panggung MTV VMA 2011 sebagai panggung perdana Love on Top di publik.
Lagu ini menjadi pilihan yang tepat bagi Beyonce untuk menggambarkan kebahagiannya menantikan kelahiran anak pertamanya dengan Jay-Z. Sebuah single garapan Taylor Knowles ini mengisahkan suatu fase kebahagiaan yang memuncak dalam suatu hubungan. Di mana Beyonce menjadikan fase kehamilan anak pertamanya sebagai fase Love on Top-nya dengan sang suami.
Lagu mid-tempo ini memadukan suara backing-vocal dan alunan instrumen trombone yang membuat lagu ini menjadi spesial dan berbeda dengan track lainnya di album 4. Vokal Beyonce pun tereksplor dengan baik terutama di bagian reff yang kian memainkan improvisasi nada tinggi. Lirik yang dinyanyikan pun cukup puitis dan romantis, berisi puji-pujian yang kata Beyonce, “Every time you touch me I just melt away.”
Performing video yang diusung dalam video klip Love on Top mencakup empat scene, satu sesi latihan dan tiganya lagi sesi performing sesungguhnya. Beyonce masih memberikan koreografi yang terbaik dan penampilan yang enerjik dalam video berdurasi lebih singkat ini. Setidaknya ia ingin menunjukkan sosok diva sesungguhnya yang tetap akan konsisten dalam perkariran musik. Itulah yang selalu kita harapkan.
