Mungkin tidak perlu menjadi nomor satu untuk menjadi sesuatu, dan itu sepertinya berlaku untuk boyband jebolan ajang pencarian bakat, The X Factor UK season 7, One Direction. Biarpun hanya mendapatkan posisi juara tiga, tapi karir 1D sepertinya lebih cemerlang dibandingkan dua rekannya yang mendapatkan juara 1 dan 2 yaitu Matt Cardle dan Rebecca Ferguson. Setelah single pertamanya What Makes You Beautiful sukses merajai chart di UK, kali ini 1D melempar single terbarunya yaitu One Thing.
One Thing, single yang merupakan single kedua 1D untuk kawasan Indonesia terbilang merupakan single pop uptempo remaja yang energik. Terbilang single ini masih memiliki nuansa yang sama dengan single pertamanya yaitu What Makes You Beautiful. Sehingga saat mendengarkan One Thing, nuansa 1D pun akan terlihat jelas dari single ini. Dan terbilang single yang diambil dari album Up All Night ini memberikan nuansa yang ceria dan semangat untuk para pendengarnya.
Harmonisasi dari lima personil 1D sepertinya mampu menghidupkan single One Thing. Kemampuan olah vocal yang pas dan baik memberikan nilai plus untuk single yang ditulis oleh Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk dan Savan Kotecha ini. Dan sepertinya memang 1D mau memberikan kesan pop energik remaja untuk single One Thing agar bisa diterima untuk semua kalangan penikmat musik. Dan sepertinya memang terbukti sukses memikat hati para penikmat musik dimana saja.
Dan sepertinya memang single one thing cukup dinikmati, ini dibuktikan dengan kesuksesan single ini peak di posisi 28 UK singles chart, 15 di Irlandia, 46 di Belgia, 18 di Skotlandia dan 23 di Selandia Baru. Tapi tidak menutup kemungkinan untuk single ini akan sukses naik ke posisi puncak ataupun sukses di negara – negara lain.
