Pitbull yang bernama asli Armando Christian Pérez ini memang selalu berhasil menyuguhkan lagu-lagu hip-house yang langsung bisa membuatmu untuk ikut berjoget, tidak terkecuali dalam lagu Back In Time ini! Terimakasih juga khususnya kepada duo Mickey & Sylvia, karena permainan gitar yang dominan dan bagian chorus dalam lagu ini mengambil sampel dari lagu hits mereka yang terkenal pada tahun 1950-an berjudul “Love Is Strange,” -- menjadikan lagu ini terlihat segar karena petikan gitar dalam lagu Pitbull bukanlah sesuatu yang sering muncul dalam karya-karyanya. Ditambah, pencampuran sampel musik tersebut dengan beat-beat yang repetitif serta rap dari Pitbull yang menghentak membuat lagu ini semakin unik dengan gayanya sendiri.
Single ini sendiri mendapat umpan balik yang beragam. Beberapa berkata bahwa lagu ini terdengar hebat, sementara sisanya menyayangkan absennya Will Smith dalam mengisi lead single Men In Black seperti yang biasanya ia lakukan pada dua film sebelumnya. Dalam segi liriknya pun, beberapa mengatakan bahwa it has nothing to do with the aliens dan sepertinya merujuk pada hal lain (apalagi kalau bukan clubbing dan perempuan? Hihi!) – walau secara gamblang lirik dalam lagu ini telah menitikberatkan pada perumpamaan Pitbull jika menjadi salah satu agen dalam organisasi rahasia Men In Black; juga inti cerita dari film yang tersebut kali ini, seperti dalam liriknya 'but to understand the future we have to go back in time': yaitu ketika Agen J diharuskan kembali ke masa lalu milik Agen K untuk menyelamatkan masa depan.
Bagaimanapun juga, single yang satu ini tetap menarik untuk disimak karena perpaduan antara nada retro dengan beat yang kekinian membuatnya menjadi begitu menarik dan akan sayang jika dilewatkan. So, let's back in time with Pitbull!
