Rapper asal New York yang bernama Curtis James Jackson atau yang lebih kita kenal dengan nama 50cent pada akhir tahun ini merelease single pertama yang berjudul My Life untuk album terbarunya yang akan direlease pada tahun depan. 50cent bisa dibilang mencapai puncak kesuksesannya pada masa awal-awal karirnya melalui 2 album pertamanya yaitu Get Rich or Die Tryin dan The Massacre dengan single In Da Club, 21 Question dan juga Candy Shop. Setelah 2 album tersebut, 50cent merelease 2 album lagi yang prestasinya bisa dikatakan tidak mampu menyaingi kesuksesan 2 album sebelumnya maka 50cent tampaknya kali ini mencoba untuk comeback dengan kekuatan penuh dan mengulang kesuksesan yang pernah diraihnya melalui single My Life dimana Ia mengajak Eminem, rapper yang juga adalah mentornya dan juga salah satu penyanyi yang saat ini sedang naik daun yaitu Adam Levine. Melihat lebih jauh kedalam lagu berdurasi 4:00 ini, My Life ditulis oleh 50cent, Eminem dan Adam Levine serta diproduseri oleh Symbolyc One. My Life adalah sebuah lagu yang bercerita mengenai beberapa hal yang pernah dialami oleh 50cent selama hidupnya. Intro lagu ini dibuka oleh melodi electric guitar dan disambut oleh suara Adam Levine yang khas dan bagian ini juga sekaligus menjadi chorus untuk lagu ini. Memasuki verse pertama kita bisa mendengar 50 cent bercerita tentang bagaimana Ia dikecewakan oleh 2 mantan temannya dari group G-Unit yaitu The Game dan Young Buck. Verse ke-2 dari lagu ini kita bisa mendengar Eminem bercerita tentang kendala yang Ia hadapi ketika Ia hendak membuat salah satu album tersuksesnya yaitu Recovery. Memasuki verse ke-3 50cent kembali mengisi bagian ini dengan bercerita bagaimana Ia merasa dunia melupakannya walaupun Ia sudah menjual lebih dari 40 juta records dan Ia bertekad melalui lagu ini Ia akan kembali meraih kesuksesannya. Melihat lyric dari lagu ini kita bisa melihat ini adalah sebuah lagu yang jujur dan lyrinya merefleksikan apa yang mereka alami selama ini sekaligus mengingatkan kita akan lagu Not Afraid dari Eminem yang lyricnya juga bercerita tentang kehidupan pribadi Eminem. Hook yang dinyanyikan Adam Levine juga cukup catchy dan berhasil memberikan sedikit sentuhan pop untuk lagu ini yang diharapkan akan membantu lagu ini agar lebih terdengar radio friendly.
My Life bisa dikatakan adalah usaha terbesar dari 50cent hingga saat ini untuk bisa kembali meraih kesuksesan dan 50cent sendiri sempat mengatakan di salah satu interview bahwa Ia ingin membuat lagu yang bisa melampaui kesuksesan single In Da Club sebelum Ia memutuskan untuk pensiun. Music video untuk lagu ini juga sudah direlease pada tanggal 27 November lalu di MTV dimana music videonya menggambarkan bagaimana 50cent, Adam Levine dan Eminem mencoba lari dari kejaran helicopter. Hal yang cukup menarik adalah ending dari video ini dimana pada akhirnya mereka semua berhenti dari kejaran helicopter yang merupakan gambaran dari lyric ‘My life makes me wanna run away but there’s no place to go’. Sejauh ini My Life bisa dikatakan cukup sukses di chart-chart seluruh dunia dan diharapkan masih bisa terus naik dan mengembalikan nama 50cent ke jajaran rapper papan atas saat ini.
