Sejak kapan Ludacris menginjakkan kaki ke ranah musik dance? Sejak saat ini. Tapi dia butuh bantuan Usher dan David Guetta untuk itu. 'Rest Of My Life' adalah hasilnya. Ini merupakan single yang diambil dari album terbaru Luda, "Ludaversal". Rapper zaman sekarang memang suka membuat kejutan. Sebelum ini, Lil Wayne lancar bernyanyi di lagunya 'How To Love', Pitbull ga PD tampil sendiri sehingga albumnya dipenuhi banyak artis tamu, dan kini Ludacris menjamah ke dance.
How is it? Yang jelas, David Guetta melumuri sound-nya dengan ciri khas musik yang generik dan menghentak, dengan didahului oleh intro yang sedikit melunak. Kemudian, Usher memberi porsi yang penyeimbang untuk hook. Dan kemudian, serahkan segala verse pada Luda. Ia melumat kata-kata dengan begitu cepat dan rapatnya sehingga menjamin lagu ini hidup dalam tarikan nafasnya. Ia terdengar lebih agresif. Mungkin mengikuti tempo lagu yang memaksanya untuk berbuat demikian.
Credit untuk Guetta sebagai performer di single ini beralasan. Durasi yang ia pakai untuk memamerkan musik gubahannya mungkin berimbang dengan porsi hook Usher dan verse Luda. Tujuan dari lagu ini adalah memaknai hidup sesuai dengan keinginan individu. Jangan menghakimi ya, tapi terkadang memang pilihan orang beda-beda untuk memaknai hidupnya.
