Ketika mendengar nama New Kids On The Block, ada harapan yang terbentuk di dalamnya. Maklumlah, mereka tergolong pioneer di bidangnya, pop boyband. Tahun ini, Jordan dan Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre,Donnie Wahlberg, dan Danny Wood merilis sebuah album studio yang berjudul "10", yang namanya sesuai dengan angka kepemilikan album boyband tersebut. Dan sebagai installment awal dari "10", dirilislah sebuah track urban yang boleh dibilang terdengar seperti sebuah kejutan, 'Remix (I Like The)'. Single ini adalah karya Lars Halvor Jsensen bersama Johannes Jorgensen dan Lemar Obika, nama-nama yang enggak asing dalam skena pop. Lars dan Johannes adalah bagian dari tim DEEKAY sementara Lemar merupakan seorang singer songwriter peraih penghargaan MOBO. Dan ternyata dari sana sound unik 'Remix' berasal.
Selama ini, DEEKAY dikenal sebagai tim produksi yang sukses menyatukan pop/R&B/rock sebagai suatu kesatuan sound yang utuh dalam karya mereka. Pertemuan dengan Lemar dan NKOTB di single ini sukses membuat lagu terdengar begitu edgy. 'Remix' is like the song that you never heard before. It is loud, it has swag, it's something that people never thought would've been released from the boys. Keunikan yang terjadi sedikitpun tidak menimbulkan kesan aneh atau tak nyaman tatkala mendengarkannya. Yang ada adalah fun dan groovy, setiap orang bisa menemukan kedua hal tersebut dalam durasi tiga menit delapan belas detik tersedia.
Buat saya, segala harapan terpenuhi disini. Yang kangen NKOTB, selamat! Kalian bisa mendengarkan mereka kembali dengan materi baru. Yang ingin kejutan dari NKOTB, selamat juga! Kalian dipastikan memperoleh surprise yang istimewa di single ini. Dan yang merasa NKOTB harus step up their game, selamat! Karena Jordan cs persis melakukan hal yang demikian, dan mereka tidak terkesan "maksa" dalam melakukannya. So, kalau kamu ingin yang klasik modern, boleh mencicipi 'Remix'.
