Pop rock bertempo kencang menjadi citra musik Demi Lovato. Ehem, meskipun 'Skyscraper' masih terasa gemanya hingga sekarang, corak yang sebenarnya masih sangat tergambar jelas untuk Demi adalah hal-hal yang begini, seperti 'Made in the USA' ini. Single kedua dari album keempatnya, "Demi" telah dirilis berdekatan dengan hari kemerdekaan Amerika Serikat. Momentum yang pas untuk menjadikan lagunya sasaran pemutaran radio, terkait dengan patriotisme yang terselip dalam judul dan liriknya.
Apa sebenarnya isi dari 'Made in the USA' ini? Well, enggak jauh-jauh dari C.I.N.T.A. sih. Ya, lihat saja baris per baris liriknya, contains strong statements of love and relationship. "If you fall, I'll fall with you baby" di awal lagu sepertinya mengintimidasi quote film Titanic "You jump, I jump". Sementara "our love was made in the USA" tampaknya menyanjung produk buatan negara adidaya tersebut yang punya kualitas no.1.
Sebanyak-banyaknya pujian yang tertuju pada single ini, sebanyak itu pula yang menyindirnya menjiplak ide 'Party in the USA' milik rekan Disney, Miley Cyrus. Penyandingan tersebut tampaknya tak akan pernah sirna hingga 10 tahun ke depan. Tapi sebenarnya fakta unik mengenai 'Made in the USA' adalah lagu ini tercipta di tahun 2011 dan hendak dibawakan oleh seorang artis R&B. Itu membuat sebuah rujukan rasa R&B yang ada di dalamnya sebagai sesuatu yang seyogyanya terjadi. Tapi jika didengar secara spesifik pada bagian bridge, lagu ini justru mengandung unsur country yang terdengar di menit kedua detik ke-17. What the hell dengan persandingan tersebut, saat Demi masih bisa memberikan vocal run dalam lagu-lagunya, ini asli produk made by Demi Lovato.
