Dalam dominasi Ryan Tedder, jarang keluar pujian kepada member One Republic yang lain atas jerih payah mereka mengantarkan semangat lewat karya-karya yang mereka hasilkan. Meskipun Ryan sebagai mastermind-nya, tapi eksekusi yang dilakukan tetaplah bersama. Keapikan yang mereka sama-sama hadirkan itu termasuk 'Something I Need', single paling anyar dari album ketiga mereka, "Native".

Agak gila bagaimana cara kerja musisi membolak-balikkan kata dalam kalimat sehingga muncul sesuatu seperti di atas. It's right, it's logical, but somehow still so hard to accept. Yang lebih gila lagi adalah bagaimana kalimat tersebut diterjemahkan kepada sebuah momentum romantisme. Gila, bukan?!
Secara pribadi, saya lebih menyukai lagu ini dibanding 'Counting Stars'. Ia lebih mudah dinikmati dengan musik yang cenderung lebih santai, ketimbang 'CS' yang meledak-ledak. Santai tapi tidak membosankan. Chorus dipasung dalam tempo berbeda dengan beat yang lebih rapat dan iring-iringan vokal yang mengharamkan terbentuknya perasaa terlena. Disinilah peran keseluruhan anggota band terasa. Meskipun Ryan yang bervisi, namun Zach Filkins, Drew Brown, Eddie Fisher, dan Brent Kutzle memiliki pengaruh dalam mengendalikan musik dalam porsi masing-masing. Itu yang membuat One Republic adalah one band, bukan one man band.
