Yang saya suka dari musik di era ini adalah pop kembali merajai arena. Kondisi demikian membuat produsen musik giat untuk mencetak lagu-lagu dengan kualitas keceriaan maksimal. Dalam definisi tersebut, tercantum single 'Loving You Is Easy' milik Union J. Diangkat sebagai single ketiga dari album perdana mereka, faktanya ini adalah sekuel dari 'Carry You'. Struktur lagu dibangun dalam pola sejenis, meyakinkan bahwa Union J hendak membangun signature dengan corak tersebut. Benang merahnya adalah Steve Mac. Ia yang bertanggung jawab di dua lagu tersebut. Di satu sisi ini terlihat seperti mengotakkan Union J pada spesifikasi tertentu, tapi di sisi lain ini membantu mereka untuk punya identitas sendiri dan lebih mudah dikenali.
Piano menggawangi intro lagu dengan verse yang menjalar dalam harmoni yang intim. Elektronika mulai menguasai latar musik dengan dominasi arahan keyoboard dalam empat notasi nada, dimulai di bagian chorus dan berulang hingga lagu hendak menyentuh outro. Outro pun tercipta dari acuan intro, maka apabila mode pemutar musik otomatis playback, the song becoming a neverending tune.
'Loving You Is Easy' is indeed too easy, too poor, to be true. Tidak hanya sound elektronika yang repetitif, tapi juga syair lagunya. Yang tersedia di verse saja dibawa bolak balik sebanyak tiga kali. Belum lagi titel sebagai hook yang bisa dipastikan mengucur deras sebagai racun track ini. Keterlibatan Jason DeRulo dalam penulisannya seperti tak punya cukup pesona untuk menambah gemerlap demi kompleksnya lagu. But then again, if the goal is to produce a fun pop song, mission accomplished. Tak selamanya easy itu berarti cheap.
