Single of the Day: Imagine Dragons - On Top of the World

Bagi yang pernah mengikuti serial sitkom Partners, yang sayangnya sudah dicancel, pasti segera familiar dengan lagu milik Imagine Dragons ini. Dirilis pada tanggal 18 Maret 2013 yang lalu, On Top of the World ini memang sudah sedikit usang, akan tetapi tidak ada salahnya untuk menyimak kembali pop-rock alternatif yang uplifting versi Imagine Dragons ini dan kemudian berdansa mengikuti iramanya.

On Top of the World terdengar seperti mengadopsi semangat musik Afrika yang menghentak dan mengedepankan perkusi untuk mengantarkan enerjinya yang riang, namun sebenarnya mengedepankan gitar dan piano sebagai instrumen utama. Ini yang menyebabkan On Top of The World terdengar manis dan melodius meski bergerak dalam tempo yang cukup cepat.

Didukung pula oleh vokal Dan Reynolds yang bernyanyi dengan lebih santai dari biasanya. Meski tentu saja tidak kehilangan semangat rock yang biasa dibawakannya. Dan bernyanyi dengan meletup-meletup, tapi disaat lain ia juga mengalunkan dengan lembut, tergantung pada notasi verse dan chorus yang memang memiliki pergerakan yang cukup aktif.

Kekuatan On Top of the World tidak hanya di segi musik dan vokal tapi juga lirik. On Top of the World menggambarkan tentang jatuh bangun tanpa harus menjadi cengeng, melainkan tetap mengedepankan antusiasme dan juga postifisme. Dan inilah yang menjadikan On Top of the World menjadi sebuah lagu pop-rock yang sangat gampang menawan hati dan perhatian.
