Seems Kylie Minogue hasn’t aging at all. Into the Blue bisa jadi buktinya. Pop Diva ini kembali ke ranah pop dansa yang catchy dalam single paling barunya yang juga menjadi andalan untuk album ke-12nya yang tengah dalam masa pengerjaan. Ini juga menjadi single pertamanya semenjak berada di bawah naungan label Jay-Z, Roc Nation.
Dibuka dengan chant ala Afrika, Into the Blue segera menghentak saat drum machine mengisi sendinya. Meski memiliki struktur ala progressive house, akan tetapi Into the Blue hadir dengan lebih light dari kebanyakan EDM. Temponya juga tidak terlalu kencang. Sederhanya sebuah dance-pop dengan andalan utama pada vokal.
Dalam chorus, dan juga bridge, Kylie Minogue mengantarkan falsetto, agar jangkauan vokalnya terdengar lebih luas, akan tetapi jangan kuatir, karena justru mampu memberikan kekuatan pada lagunya. Secara struktur ia sangat sederhana, dengan memasuki pertengahan, chorus menjadi repetitif hingga akhir lagu.
Tapi, karena dibawakan dengan menarik oleh Kylie Minogue, lagu tidak terasa membosankan sama sekali. Bahkan durasi sekitar 4 menitan menjadi sangat singkat. Saat kita masih menikmati lagunya, tiba-tiba dia usai dan berakhir. Sedikit menyisakan rasa tanggung pada pendengar.
Istimewanya, sekali dengar, kita bisa langsung mengasosiasikan Into the Blue dengan Kylie Minogue, karena trio penulis Kelly Sheehan, Mike Del Rio dan Jacob Kasher hafal benar dengan karakteristik Kylie Minogue. Pop dansa yang seksi dan menggoda.
Into the Blue tidak hanya sekedar sebuah nomor pop biasa. Dia juga memiliki aspek tematis yang menggugah. "When I get my back up against the wall / Don’t need no-one to rescue me / Cause I ain’t waiting up for no miracle / Yeah tonight I’m running free," demikian salah satu bait liriknya yang membawa semangat positif.
Dengan perpaduan "baru" dan "klasik", Into the Blue mengembalikan Kylie Minogue ke khitahnya sebagai penyanyi pop dansa yang menggoda.
