Rinni Wulandari. Penyanyi asal kota Medan ini siap untuk merilis album keduanya yang berjudul “Independent” di tahun ini. Untuk pemanasan, ia telah merilis single Oh Baby di bulan Mei yang lalu.
Oh Baby adalah sebuah nomor pop RnB yang mengharuskan Rinni Wulandari bernyanyi dengan sedikit mengaplikasikan teknik whispering dalam bernyanyinya. Mengingatkan akan Mariah Carey di tahun 90-an? Mungkin. Apalagi lagu ini dikomposisikan dengan gaya dan pendekatan ala pop RnB dekade 90-an yang terdengar lebih organis karena lebih mengedepankan vokal penyanyinya ketimbang gimmicknya.
Melodi manis didukung pula oleh lantunan beat yang ritmis, tapi mengalir dengan tenang dan lembut, berkesan seksi dan sensual, seusai dengan aspek tematis yang diusung oleh liriknya. Saat Rinni menyanyikan bait "In your arms where I wanna be / Deep embrace love the way you feel / I hate the way boy you gotta leave," ia terdengar meyakinkan saat merayu dan membujuk. Yep, Rinni menjalankan tugasnya sebagai penyanyi dengan baik, yaitu mengkomunikasikan lagunya kepada pendengar.
Dan hal ini menjadi penting karena Rinni menyanyikan Oh Baby dalam lirik berbahasa Inggris. Syukurnya, hal ini bisa ditaklukkan Rinni dengan baik. Ia mampu tampil padu dan menyatu dnegan lagunya, baik secara melodi mau pun lirik. Rinni tampaknya semakin matang sebagai seorang penyanyi.
Oh Baby adalah sebuah lagu pop yang menggoda. Dan Rinni Wulandari menyanyikannya dengan tak kalah menggoda. Oh Baby bisa jadi merupakan pertanda jika seorang Rinni Wulandari sudah siap tidak hanya menaklukkan skena musik lokal, namun juga melampaui batasnya dan melanglang di mancanegara.
