Taylor Swift membuat keriuhan dengan video untuk 'Bad Blood' dengan menampilkan banyak barisan bintang yang terlibat dalam video yang memiliki konsep seperti film pendek tersebut. Banyak sekali nama yang terlibat di dalamnya, seperti Seelena Gomez, Cara Delavigne, Ellie Goulding, Hailee Stenfeld, dan banyak lagi.

Lantas bagaimana dengan lagunya? Apakah semeriah video klipnya? Lagunya sendiri sebenarnya cenderung monoton, memadukan antara electro-pop dan sedikit rock dengan chorus yang repetitif.

Secara struktur, lagunya memang repetitif, dengan penekanan pada chorus yang berulang tadi. Oleh karenanya tidak heran jika ingin mendengar vokal terbaik dari Swift, jelas lagu ini bukan pilihan terbaiknya.

Untunglah kemudian masuk Kendrick Lamar untuk versi remix-nya. Ia memberi sesuatu yang terasa lebih intens pada corak monoton lagunya, sehingga 'Bad Blood' terasa menjadi lebih segar dan intens. Terlepas dari kekurangannya, 'Bad Blood' menunjukkan kekuatan Swift sebagai seorang musisi pop, karena ia mengerti benar bagaimana menjadikan lagunya menjual, dengan memberikan gimmick yang memorable, sehingga atensi pun bisa menjadi berlebih pada lagu yang sebenarnya tidak istimewa ini.
