Yang ditunggu-tunggu akhirnya datang juga. Katy Perry telah merilis video untuk single terbarunya, yang menjadi anthem Olimpiade Rio 2016, 'Rise'.
"Through the blood, sweat (lots of it), and tears, we keep rising," kata Perry melalui Twitternya "Finally, my new video for #RISE."
Dalam video yang disutradarai oleh Paul Gore dan diproduseri oleh Matthew Ayriss dan Danny Lockwood, Perry terlihat berada dalam beberapa situasi sulit, seperti berjuang untuk melepaskan diri dari parasutnya di bawah air dan bergantungan dari tebing curam. Ia kemudian terbang bersama parasutnya sebelum akhirnya mendarat di tebing itu lagi.
Perry menambahkan melalui Twitter jika video bisa disaksikan secara penuh di acara "Rio Olympics Preview Special" di NBC, malam ini, Jumat, 5 Agustus.
"This is a song that's been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface," kata Perry tentang lagunya. "I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite. I know that together we can rise above the fear - in our country, and around the world."
"I can't think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be," lanjut Perry, "I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together."
