DNCE akhirnya memberi kepastian kapan album debut mereka, yang ternyata juga berjudul "DNCE", dirilis. Yaitu tepatnya pada tanggal 18 November.
Dengan memanfaatkan akun sosial media mereka, band ini memberi pengumuman tersebut, berbarengan dengan cover-art album susulan untuk EP "Swaay" tersebut.
Melalui Twitter, DNCE menampilkan sebuah video yang memperlihatkan Joe Jonas, Jack Lawless, Cole Whittle dan JinJoo Lee mengumumkan perilisan album debut mereka. "YOU HEARD RIGHT!! YOUR NEW FAV BAND IS RELEASING A F#@KING ALBUM. 11/18. SELF-TITLED. MARK THOSE CALS!!" demikian isi caption yang menyertai videonya.

Joe menjelaskan pada EW jika album ini sebagian besar dikerjakan di studio milik Max Martin di L.A. "This was the first time in my career that I can say a full album was done in the same place," ungkapnya. "I think there's this beach vibe to the album and overall good vibes, good feelings. It's not too emotional or heavy. There are songs like that here and there but the core of it is pretty loose."
"We have one or two ballads. It's not always easy but you want to be able to have the music be a reflection of your personal life that I probably wouldn't typically be speaking about. Sometimes it's relationships but other times it's just who you are as a person," lanjut Joe.
