ABBA Akan Kembali Dalam Sebuah "Live Digital Experience"

ABBA akan berkolaborasi dengan mogul dunia musik, Simon Fuller, untuk sebuah "live digital experience", yang akan diluncurkan di tahun 2018.

Fuller, yang telah sukses melahirkan beberapa superstar, seperti Spice Girls misalnya, bekerjasama dengan Universal Music Group, selain ABBA tentu saja, telah mengumumkan sebuah proyek digambarkan sebagai "groundbreaking venture that will utilise the very latest in digital and virtual reality technology".

"The aim is to create an original entertainment experience… which will enable a new generation of fans to see, hear, and feel ABBA in a way previously unimagined," sebagaimana yang tertulis di press release proyek ini.

Detil lebih lanjut memang belum diketahui, namun diperkirakan jika ABBA akan tampil dalam bentuk hologram. Billboard melaporkan jika Fuller telah melakukan investasi dalam teknologi virtual reality, mengembangkan manusia digital yang hyper-realistic dalam ruang lingkup dunia hiburan.

Keterlibatan anggota ABBA dalam sisi kreatif proyek juga sudah dikonfirmasi. Benny Andersson menyebutkan, "We’re inspired by the limitless possibilities of what the future holds and are loving being a part of creating something new and dramatic here. A time machine that captures the essence of who we were. And are."

Fuller menambahkan, "The creativity and ideas flowing from the members of ABBA over the past few months have filled me with great excitement. We are exploring a new technological world, with Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence at the forefront, that will allow us to create new forms of entertainment and content we couldn’t have previously imagined."

Kuartet pop asal Swedia ini telah membubarkan diri di tahun 1982. Meski begitu sempat beberapa kali mengadakan reuni, seperti di tahun 1986, 1999 serta di awal tahun 2016 ini. Sebenarnya para fans sudah mengharapkan agar ABBA bisa melakukan reuni secara lebih permanen. Sayangnya Björn Ulvaeus di akhir tahun lalu sekali lagi menyebutkan jika ABBA tidak akan pernah melakukan reformasi.
