Para peraih nominasi untuk American Music Awards ke-44 telah diumumkan. Dan Drake sukses memimpin dengan 13 buah nominasi, memecahkan rekor yang sebelumnya dipegang oleh Michael Jackson dengan 11 nominasi di tahun 1984.
Menyusul kemudian adalah Rihanna yang mendapatkan 7 buah nominasi, sementara Adele dan Justin Bieber mengekor dengan masing-masing 5 buah nominasi.
Drake tidak hanya mendapatkan nominasi berkat lagu-lagunya di album "Views", namun juga berkat kolaborasinya bersama RiRi dalam lagu 'Work'. Sebagai tambahan, Drake juga mengincar gelar prestesius bersama RiRi, Adele, Bieber, Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood dan The Weeknd.
Sementara untuk para pendatang baru seperti Alessia Cara, The Chainsmokers, Joe Jonas-fronted band DNCE, Shawn Mendes dan Zayn Malik akan bersaing untuk mendapatkan piala New Artist of the Year.
Pengumuman pemenang akan dilangsungkan pada Minggu malam, 20 November di Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles.
