John Mayer akhirnya menepati janji dan merilis single baru yang sudah ditunggu-tunggu, 'Love on the Weekend'. Lagu ini akan tampil di album ketujuh Mayer, "The Search for Everything", yang akan dirilis pada tahun 2017.
Dalam lagunya Mayer bernyanyi, "Love on the weekend/ Love on the weekend/ Like only we can/ Like only we can/ Love on the weekend/ Love on the weekend/ I'm coming up and I'm loving every minute of it/ You be the DJ, I'll be the driver/ You put your feet up in the getaway car/ I'm flying fast like a, a wanted man/ I want you, baby, like you can't understand."
Saat melakukan Facebook Live pada Kamis, 17 November, Mayer berkesempatan untuk mendiskusikan album barunya tersebut. "Next year is a year of more music coming than I've ever put out in one year," katanya, "That's really sort of what my career has been, it's what my life has been, it's the way that my mind works - it sort of consumes everything. That is very true to the nature of the record, which is sort of like a mixtape of all the music that inspires me and all the styles that I've made before, but certainly in my own certain way of doing it."
Selain itu Mayer juga mengumumkan akan melangsungkan rangkaian tur di tahun 2017 mendatang, tepatnya mulai musim semi, selepas album "The Search for Eveything dirilis".
