Hayley Williams Mengcover Hit Klasik Radiohead, 'Fake Plastic Trees'

Hayley Williams baru saja melepas sebuah cover version versi akustik untuk hits klasik Radiohead, 'Fake Plastic Trees' melalui akun Instagramnya di hari Senin (10/8) kemarin.

Hayley menyebut jika cover 'Fake Plastic Trees' merupakan judul terakhir dari seri cover dirinya di Instagram. Sebelumnya ia telah menyanyi ulang 'Smoke Signals' milik Phoebe Bridgers dan 'Unison' milik

Björk sebagai bagian serinya. Setidaknya untuk sementara ini.

Cover-nya sendiri direkam dengan menggunakan app voice memo di iPhone, sehingga mungkin tidak memiliki kualitas sejernih rekaman studio, namun Hayley membuktikan jika vokalnya bisa melewati halangan-halangan teknis seperti itu.

Lagu paling sering diminta orang kepada Hayley untuk dicover adalah lagu-lagu Radiohead, namun dulu ia menganggap lagunya terlalu "suci" untuk dicover. Kemudian ia menyadari kalau Radiohead sendiri tidak pernah menganggap karya mereka tidak bisa diutak-atik, sehingga akhirnya "berani" untuk melakukan cover ini.

for a while, anyway. the top requested song throughout my brief career in self-serenadism has been a @radiohead song. seemed sacrilegious at first until i realized that the band themselves have never once regarded what they do as precious or never-to-be-toyed with. they are never beholden to any one version of their expression and public affections don’t seem to sway them. so many times people thought they were at their best only for them to bloom more beautifully into something unexpected and unequivocally better. for a time i pretended to be over Radiohead (iiii knowwww) but good good things always find you and welcome you back. so, in admiration of one of the best bands of all time - and in humility to everyone who did *not* ask for this - here’s a self-serenade of “Fake Plastic Trees”. enjoy it if you can.
