Janelle Monáe & Celeste Masuk Dalam Shortlist Best Original Song 2021

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) baru saja mengumumkan shortlist untuk 9 kategori Oscar 2021, termasuk untuk Best Original Song. Dan dari daftar ini diketahui jika nama beberapa penyanyi beken, seperti Janelle Monáe dan Celeste berpeluang untuk mendapatkan Oscar tahun ini.

Di kategori Best Original Song, Janelle mendapat nominasi berkat lagu 'Turntables' yang menjadi soundtrack film dokumenter "All In: The Fight for Democracy." Sedang Celeste melalui lagu 'Hear My Voice' yang terdapat dalam film "The Trial of the Chicago 7."

Siap bersaing juga adalah H.E.R. dengan lagu 'Fight For You' miliknya, yang baru saja diumumkan mendapatkan nominasi di Golden Globe Awards 2021, dan merupakan soundtrack untuk film "Judas and the Black Messiah."

Ada juga beberapa non-musisi yang mendapat nominasi di kategori ini, yaitu aktor Sacha Baron Cohen (‘Wuhan Flu’ dari "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm") serta Will Ferrell and My Marianne (‘Husavik’ dari "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga").

Yang juga masuk dalam shortlist Best Original Song adalah Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Charlie Puth dan Leslie Odom Jr.

Perayaan Oscar akan berlangsung di tanggal 25 April setelah diundurkan dari jadwal semula di bulan Februari ini. Nominasi lengkap akan diumumkan pada tanggal 15 Maret.
