Berlokasi di Contents World milik SJ ENM, di Paju City, Provinsi Gyeonggi, di tanggal 11 Desember yang lalu Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2021 telah mengungkap siapa saja para pemenangnya.
Acara dipandu oleh artis kawakan Lee Hyori, dan tercatat sebagai perempuan pertama yang menjadi host acara penghargaan K-pop tahunan ini. Sebagaimana biasa, MAMA bukan hanya ajang bagi-bagi piala, tapi juga menjadi semacam konser mini yang diisi oleh banyak bintang K-pop kenamaan. ITZY, ENHYPEN, ATEEZ, Brave Girls, aespa, TXT, tim NCT, hingga reuni WANNAONE, dan artis internasional seperti Ed Sheeran menjadi pengisi acara tahun ini, selain banyak lagi musisi lain yang terlibat.
Untuk penerima piala, BTS menyapu bersih empat Daesangs (Grand Prize) tahun ini. Ini kali ketiga secara berturut mereka menyabet piala-piala untuk kategori Song of the Year ('Butter'), Album of the Year ("BE"), Artist of the Year, dan Worldwide Icon of the Year. Total ada 9 piala yang dibawa pulang BTS di ajang MAMA 2021.
Sayangnya BTS berhalangan hadir untuk tahun ini.
Dua artis Indonesia, Lyodra dan Anneth, terpilih sebagai Best New Asian Artist (Indonesia) dan Best Asian Artist (Indonesia) tahun ini. Sedang Ed Sheeran adalah penerima Favorite International Artist.
