TMS yang langganan nge-hits bareng Little Mix kembali memproduksi single terbaru dari pemenang The X Factor tersebut. 'Salute', yang juga dipakai sebagai titel untuk album studio kedua Perrie cs ini merupakan karya TMS ketiga yang mereka pasang sebagai single, setelah 'Wings' dan 'DNA' yang berhasil menonjol di deretan atas UK Singles Chart. So, 'Salute' has tough act to follow.
Single bergaya anthemic, marching, dan rapi ini punya daya tarik yang kuat. Percaya ga percaya, ini adalah kali pertama Little Mix menampilkan single dengan kualitas komunikatif. 'Salute' tak sekedar bicara kepada pendengarnya, melainkan memerintah. Corak militer yang terkandung padanya berbuat demikian.
Sayangnya, interpretasi visual yang Little Mix lakukan untuk single ini terlalu mengalir dalam sisi gelap. Video musik yang diproduksi menuding 'Salute' sebagai pergerakan pemberontakan. Untuk lirik yang berpihak pada kaum wanita, pemanfaatan penari latar pria dinilai tepat sebagai dukungan terhadap penghargaan gender tersebut. Lagi, kemampuan dance Little Mix yang semakin jadi membuat single ini semakin layak sebagai sebuah tribute kepada para wanita.
Tak ada komplain lanjutan, baik kepada Little Mix maupun single ini. 'Salute' mungkin akan membukakan gerbang penggemar setia mereka untuk bertransformasi dari Little Mixers kepada Salute Warrior. Desain musik yang terpapar dalam single ini sejatinya membuktikan ketidakterbatasan gaya bermusik empat gadis muda ini. Salut buat mereka!
