Sebelum meng-entry lagu ke dalam Eurovision, Swedia memiliki ajang nasional untuk memperebutkan posisi representatif di ajang se-benua itu. Darin mengikuti Melodifestivalen menyanyikan You're Out Of My Life yang kemudian dirilis di 28 Pebruari lalu. Lagu ini memiliki kecenderungan influence dari 80's rock, seperti musik yang dimainkan oleh Duran Duran. Lagu ini sendiri adalah hasil karya Henrik Janson dan Tony Nilsson serta diproduseri oleh Arnthor Birgisson. Merasa asing dengan mereka? Mereka adalah penulis lagu dan produser asal Swedia pastinya. Tony Nilsson sebelumnya pernah menulis lagu untuk Marie Serneholt lho, mantan anggota grup vokal A*Teens.
Darin yang kita kenal dengan rekaman pop dan R&B pasti akan terdengar sangat fresh dengan rock ballad di lagu ini. Selain erangan gitar elektrik, synth yang dipakai sebagai pengiring dilagu ini cukup menonjol. Vokal Darin memang kurang garang sehingga kesan nge-rocknya masih minus. Bukan masalah besar karena hasilnya justru mampu mengangkat emosi dari lirik yang disampaikan. I can tell kalau liriknya pasaran, sedih, menangis, maaf, sakit sakit sakit, tapi Darin berhasil membawa lirik yang biasa menjadi sebuah lagu yang menyentuh. Prestasi yang diraih You're Out Of My Life dalam Melodifestivalen adalah posisi 2, setelah sebelumnya hampir didiskualifikasi karena single ini sudah beredar alias dijual padahal lombanya belum selesai. Di final yang diselenggarakan 13 Maret lalu, lagu ini merebut juara 2, dikalahkan oleh Salem Al Fakir untuk lagu Keep On Walking. Meskipun gagal bertanding di Eurovision, tapi Darin tetap akan memasukkan lagu ini dalam albumnya nanti.
