Jangan kecewa kalau tahun ini tidak disediakan winning song, karena meskipun demikian, Lee DeWyze, sang American Idol tahun ini masih punya satu lagu yang menggambarkan perjalanannya menuju kemenangan. 'Beautiful Day' adalah lagu tahun 2000 milik U2 yang berasal dari album 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' yang juara di lebih dari 8 negara. 10 tahun kemudian, lagu ini dijadikan pilihan oleh pemenang American Idol untuk menjadi lagu yang mengantarkannya ke puncak kejayaan di final 27 Mei 2010 lalu.
Tidak banyak perubahan yang dilakukan dalam aransemen musiknya. Instrumen strings terdengar sepanjang lagu, mengiringi permainan musik band-nya. Yang menonjol dari penyajian Lee adalah sejak verse awal, dia mengambil upper register. Gaya bernyanyi ini jelas beda dengan versi awal maupun beberapa versi daur ulang lainnya. Durasinya juga enggak jauh beda. Sekitar 4 menitan lah. Yang aku juga sangat suka adalah bagaimana band mengakhiri lagunya. Gebukan drum serasa mendengarkan lagunya secara live performance.
Album pertama Lee DeWyze sudah dirancang akan berisi 12 lagu dan diharapkan bisa rampung di 26 Oktober nanti. 19 Recordings sebagai label rekamannya sudah mengkonfirmasi lewat iTunes Store. Atas kemenangannya di ajang American Idol, Lee memberikan pidato yang menggambarkan ekspresi kegembiraannya. "Thank you guys so much for everything. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you guys so much. Everybody. I can't believe this. I love you guys. This is amazing. Crystal, I love you ... I'm just happy, man. I'm so happy right now. I've never been happier in my life."
Semoga sukses untuk Lee DeWyze. Sepanjang episode awal American Idol memang dirinya kurang disoroti, tapi saat semifinal dimulai, dia termasuk finalis terbaik. Setelah mendukung Lee di American Idol, saatnya mendukung Lee di penjualan album dan radio airplay. Semoga 'Beautiful Day' benar-benar bisa memperindah karir musik Lee. Amin!
