Setelah melepas dua buah album kompilasi, dan album Let Love In merupakan studio album yang dirilis pada tahun 2006 lalu, tampaknya Goo Goo Dolls (GGD) tidak pernah berhenti dan tetap aktif. Hal ini dapat terlihat pada album yang akan dirilisnya, Something for the Rest of Us masih pada label yang sama. Tetap beranggotakan John Rzeznik pada vokal dan gitar, Robby Takac pada gitar bass serta Mike Malinin pada posisi drum dan perkusi semakin memantapkan GGD untuk tetap eksis. "Home" sendiri yang didapuk menjadi single pembuka, masih menampilkan musik yang setipikal dengan beberapa lagu milik GGD sebelumnya.
Mendengarkan "Home" saya serasa diajak kembali menikmati opening track pada album Let Love In, "Stay With You". Petikan gitar, drum dan alunan piano berpadu pada pembukaan lagu ini, pastinya aroma rock tetap terdengar kental sekali. Sama beberapa lagu-lagu sebelumnya, alunan piano menjadi nilai tambah single ini. Liriknya sendiri simple, dimana pada dasarnya kita masih membutuhkan seseorang, entah itu teman, keluarga hingga kekasih. "Come take me home tonight, come take me home, oh I need you now, I'm lost without you, a million miles but I will find you" Tidak begitu sulit mencerna single ini, terlebih lagi bagi mereka yang memang sudah menyukai GGD dari awalnya. Ditambah vokal John yang masih sangat prima membuat single ini sayang untuk dilewatkan, sekaligus menjadi pemanas sebelum album yang akan dirilis tahun ini.
