Duo The Ting Tings (Katie White dan Jules de Martino) kembali dengan sebuah single yang ditengarai sebagai single pembuka dari album kedua mereka. Tembang berjudul ’Hands’ ini ditulis oleh Katie White dan Jules de Martino sendiri. Sementara yang memproduserinya tak lain tak bukan rekan musisi selabel, Calvin Harris. Nuansa musiknya sendiri masih konsisten pada kerangka pop dengan sentuhan dance dan synthesizer dengan detak yang cepat. Sedikit mengingatkan pada bebunyian indie pop dari dekade 80-an. Meski terkesan monoton namun lagu ini cukup riang untuk mengangkat mood kita yang mendengarkannya.
Menurut duo ini lagu ini terinspirasi oleh gelapnya cuaca di Jerman saat mereka mengerjakan album kedua mereka. Memang liriknya sendiri seakan mengangkat soal kerja keras mengejar gaya hidup mewah hingga lupa untuk bersantai dan bersenang-senang dalam sebuah relasi. Karena itu Katie kemudian menyerukan ’clap your hands if you’re working too hard’ untuk mengajak para kekasih yang juga pekerja keras untuk bersenang-senang.
