Triple challenge di Top 3 American Idol. How I miss this moment! Soalnya 2 musim ke belakang, mereka punya 4 orang juri, sehingga nuansa serba 3 di Top 3 jadi kurang berasa. Sekarang, ketiga peserta yang tersisa; Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, dan Haley Reinhart harus bernyanyi 3 kali. Ronde 1 mereka menentukan lagu sendiri, dengan bantuan Beyonce memberi saran tentang nyanyi dan penampilan. Ronde 2, lagu pilihan Jimmy Iovine. Dan ronde 3, lagu pilihan para juri (yang sayangnya enggak disebutin, siapa milih untuk siapa).
Babak pertama, Top 3 memilih sendiri lagu apa yang akan mereka nyanyikan. Beyonce, sang superstar (yang sangat tergambar dalam video presentasinya), memberi saran kepada para finalis tentang nyanyian dan penampilan. This is interesting, karena Beyonce sangat supportif kepada masing-masing sehingga membantu mereka untuk mengembangkan stage act.
Scotty McCreery – “Amaze” by Lonestar
ST: I think you just keep getting better and better. Did I hear you get angry during the modulation? You kicked that song in the middle of next week.
JL: You’ve grown so much as a performer.
RJ: Great song choice for you. I produced a version for Boyx II Men. Some pitchy spots, but the end of the song…wow you put a period on the end of the song. That’s money. Scotty’s got money!
AI: Ini sudah Top 3, dan aku enggak nyangka masih ada komentar juri mengenai picth. Menurutku itu tidak termaafkan. Dan, lagu ini sepertinya sudah sering sekali dinyanyikan di Idol dengan versi yang jauh lebih bertenaga. Scotty hanya main aman. Penampilan ini kehilangan semangat berkompetisi. (7/10)
Lauren Alaina – “Wild One” by Faith Hill
JL: You come out here and you attack it like that–that’s what you gotta do. That was very good.
RJ: I love the advice Beyonce give you. You’ve got to psych yourself up. Nice song choice for you. Have a good time and have fun. Very nice.
ST: You were having fun when we first met, you’re having fun now. You were singing like you were owning the song. You’re so ready for this. You’re ready for America to be all over you.
AI: Mungkin 2/3 dari total penampilan Idol Lauren seperti penampilannya ini, sangat karaoke. Yang ini juga berada di jalur yang sama dengan Scotty, cari aman. (7/10)
Haily Reinhart – “What is and What Should Never Be” by Led Zepplin
RJ: This is what it’s all about! I love the fact that this girl is slaying it. You’re fearless. Got your father on stage. One of your best performances EVER. CRAZY CRAZY. HALEY’S IN IT TO WIN IT.
ST: Did you fall for me? That was just so so good.
RJ: I thought the fall was planned!
JL: You keep going. That’s a sign of a professional. It was a good good round for you.
AI: Semua yang Beyonce bilang; fearless, risk taker, showing guts, rockstar. Even biggest stars like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, and Jennifer Lopez pernah mengalami jatuh di panggung. And what made them big adalah kesanggupan untuk bangkit kembali! (9/10)
Akhir ronde 1. Randy, Jennifer, dan Steven sepakat untuk memilih Haley sebagai juaranya. Dan Ai Hasibuan pun demikian. Ronde 1 milik Haley Reinhart. Dan di ronde berikutnya, giliran Jimmy Iovine yang memberikan lagu. Pilihan lagu Jimmy memang tepat, membuat setiap kontestan berada pada elemen masing-masing.
Scotty McCreery – “Are You Going to Kiss Me or Not” by Thompson Square
ST: I never heard you deliver a chorus like that before. Real character shown through.
JL: There was so many moments in there I liked so much. That’s what the zone feels like–you feel so comfortable in your skin. Will you shave your head for the finale.
RJ: Jimmy picked a good song for you. It had a great chorus. I felt like Garth is such a great performer–you were approaching that garth level. I felt like I was in your concert again. Guess what I’m going to say again Ryan…SCOTTY’S IN IT TO WIN IT. Drink! Drink! Drink!
AI: Yep, penampilan ini jauh lebih baik dari penampilan pertamanya. This one is amazing. Big thanks to Jimmy! (9/10)
Lauren Alaina – “If I Die Young” by Perry
JL: You have the most beautiful tone of our finalists. A magical thing. You had an honest moment, you got caught up in the middle, in the honesty. That’s ok. You’re only 16.
RJ: You realized right away–that’s what it’s all about. You’ve got such a beautiful tone. A good song choice from Jimmy. You are in it to win it too.
ST: I loved it I heard that turn around. It’s a beautiful song, you’ve got a beautiful voice. You nailed it again.
AI: Aku belum pernah dengar lagu ini sebelumnya. Pilihan yang tepat buat Lauren. Dirinya pun berasa terkait dengan lirik yang dinyanyikannya. (9/10)
Haley Reinhart – “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac
RJ: Why were you looking up like “thank God I got through that.” I think you did a good job with it. Your pitch was perfect. More of a somber mood for me.
ST: You sang that song so beautifully.
JL: It was a beautiful moment. It looked beautiful on camera. I thought you were going to take it a little further at the end, but it was a nice contrast to what you did first.
AI: Lagu yang sulit untuk dinyanyikan. Tapi Haley berhasil menyanyikannya dengan sangat indah. Penampilan panggungnya pun enggak kalah indah. (8/10)
Di ronde 2 ini, Steven memilih Lauren sebagai pemenangnya. Namun Randy dan Jennifer sepakat bahwa babak ini dimenangkan oleh Scotty. As for me, Scotty dan Lauren imbang. Dan melanjut ke babak terakhir, dimana mereka menyanyikan lagu yang dipilihkan oleh juri. Mereka masing-masing mengetahui pilihan lagu tersebut lewat SMS saat mereka berkunjung ke kampung halaman.
Scotty McCreery – “She Believes in Me” by Kenny Rogers
ST: That’s the first big chorus in a big way. You put it over the top for me.
JL: We wanted to see if you could hit that chorus. You showed us. It’s about you stretching yourself at this point.
RJ: It was a little different for you..you were so sweet and tender in the front, you hit the chorus..very nicely done.
AI: Yang ini justru membawa kembali Scotty ke penampilan pertamanya. Sangat biasa, enggak ada yang seru di penampilan ini. Dan menurutku lagi, jangkauan vokalnya Scotty enggak lebar. (7/10)
Lauren Alaina – “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack
JL: You cannot buy those, those are not for sale. You gave me goosies from head to toe. I’m going to dare say you won that round already.
RJ: Leann would say you slayed it. I love your dress. You sang it great. Ryan this girl is also in it to win it.
ST: You walked down here like you owned the grand ole opry. You sang that song perfectly.
AI: Yes, selamat Lauren Alaina atas kemenangan odong-odong award malam ini. It's a beautiful song. Tapi herannya kog jadi aneh dalam nyanyian Lauren. Temponya keteteran. Improvisasi yang diambil maksa. I hate this! (6/10)
Haley Reinhart – “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morrissette
RJ: Those were some amazing choruses from you. HALEY IS IN IT TO WIN IT!
ST: Amazing you so nailed the choruses. It was a really good job.
JL: The choruses, nobody can match you there. The stronger parts were the choruses.
AI: BRAVO! Lagu yang dipilihkan enggak gampang, Haley bertanggung jawab dengan menyanyikan lagu ini dengan seluruh hidupnya. I am so proud of Haley Reinhart! (10/10)
Pemenang ronde 3 oleh Steven adalah Haley, sementara Randy dan Jenniferl lagi-lagi kompak dan memilih Lauren sebagai pemenangnya. I'm with Steven, Haley juaranya! Dalam acara ini juga disempatkan pemutaran video Beyonce yang terbaru, 'Who Run The World (Girls)' yang enggak sampai habis ditayangkan. Karena kalau mau melihat keseluruhannya tinggal masuk ke beyonceonline.com
Result show akan sangat menarik dengan kombinasi apapun siapapun yang akan bertarung di grand final. Mungkin saja Scotty yang punya banyak pendukung dan Haley yang selama 3 minggu belakangan ini selalu mendapat standing ovation. Atau mungkin all girls final, dimana Haley akan berhadapan dengan Lauren. Atau bisa jadi all country final, saat Scotty dan Lauren bertarung. Tapi berdasarkan penampilan Top 3 ini, bagiku Lauren Alaina yang enggak akan melaju ke grand final. But then again, we never know.
