Ga terasa, ternyata album terakhir Nickelback dirilis 3 tahun yang lalu. Dan tahun ini, tepatnya di 21 November, album studio ke tujuh band rock asal Kanada ini akan dirilis. Mereka menggelari hari perilisan album yang berjudul "Here And Now" tersebut sebagai Nickelback Monday. Ada 2 single yang mereka rilis di bulan September lalu sebagai teaser, 'Bottoms Up' dan 'When We Stand Together'. Dan pilihan CD jatuh ke 'When We Stand Together' sebagai andalan untuk Nickelback disini.
Keberadaan credit untuk single ini melibatkan seluruh personel band, dengan sang frontman sebagai penulis liriknya. Tapi vibe fun yang diusung oleh lagu ini yang membuat kita terkesima. Dalam kemasan musik yang upbeat, mereka menyarukan pesan tentang problematika sosial yang tengah dialami di masa sekarang. “One more depending on a prayer / And we all look away / People pretending everywhere / It’s just another day / There’s bullets flying through the air / And they still carry on / We watch it happen over there / And then just turn it off.” Chad Kroeger dkk mencoba mengingatkan kita akan kondisi tersebut dan mengajak untuk enggak cuek.
Kekuatan lagu ini tidak hanya terletak pada melodi cerianya (yang cenderung nge-pop) atau pesan moral yang dibawanya, tapi juga hook (yang lagi-lagi membuat kita merasa pop merajai di dalamnya) berupa "Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah”. Bagian dimana pendengar berkeinginan untuk ikut nyanyi bareng, menjadi bagian dari apa yang mereka dengarkan. Dan kalau sudah dalam posisi tersebut, tinggal memaknai apa yang terkandung di dalamnya. Kita bisa kalau bersama, that's when we all win!
